pattim165, Hi! Altho I didn't know you (or vice versa (sp?)), I was on the Halloween Challenge "over there"! I would love to join you again on this awesome forum! This is such a positive, friendly environment!
Robin

P.S. I don't remember what my starting weight was for that challenge. When did it start and I can pin it down? Thank you!

Jimmy, I love the duck avi!

Jimmy thanks for the welcome. Robin you are welcome to jump in to our challenge there was only 3 of us and one of us had surgery on Monday so she is temporarily out of the game. The second one recomended this site so hopefully she will find us, I left a link on Kimkins until she finds it and blocks me. We started the challenge on labor day as a continuation of our last challenge to Labor Day. Info you missed. I live in California with my husband and 3 of my 4 children, 4 dogs, lizzard & birds. My husband and I own a small security company.

I must have been on a different Halloween challenge then! Sorry!
I looked at my spreadsheet and my weigh in on 9/3 was 215.4.
I live in North Idaho with my wonderful husband of 13 years and our 2 chihuahuas, Bob & Maggie. We have 2 children a 25 yr old DD and a 23 yr old DS. We have 2 businesses - a c-store that we bought 3 years ago-DH runs it and I do the bookkeeping for it. When we bought it we tried working together but he "fired" me so 2 years ago I opened a womens clothing consignment shop.
I was only on KK since 7/30 so I didn't get to know a lot of people. I started 2 small group challenges there. So far 2 of the people have joined here altho I think one of them has decided to stay "on the dark side"!
I am looking forward to losing 20 lbs by Halloween!

Idaho is beautiful. I know what you mean about working with your spouse we have been working together for the last year and I have wanted to hurt him on more than one occasion.
Robin M
Sep 20 2007, 2:24am
LOL! It was hard because he had worked for the couple we bought the store from on and off for 13 years. I came in and had all these ideas about how things could be done better.

Or so I thought!
It's a little ironic now, tho, as he has asked me to do the bookkeeping and scheduling and some other things. He has finally admitted that he needs my help and that "some" of my ideas were good ones!
What part of Cali do you live in? I lived in San Diego many years ago. I loved it as I lived near the beach. After my 2 kids were born there I moved back to Idaho. I decided I wanted to raise them in a smaller place around family!

He is cute indeed, Jimmy. And he made me smile, not just at his cuteness, but because he let me relive a happy memory about my sister, Gail. She died of a stroke two years ago, and I miss her every day, in a million ways. Her birthday was August 27, and I have been a little sad--she was only 52. So here is how your little yellow friend brightened my night.
Gail and Wayne, her husband, bought a three car garage on the Intracoastal Waterway, in Texas, out of Sargent. They added a second floor, and called thier creation the Garage Mahal. Gail was giving me the grand tour, and she was so happy and proud, and we came to this door leading to the rear deck. She went through and I followed, hitting my head on the upper door frame--she's was short, I'm tall.
It was quite a lick, and I stood on the deck beside her, rubbing my forehead, waiting for the stars to stop spinning, and my tears to dry. My eyeballs were rolling around in their sockets like those steel bbs you try to get innto the holes of those kid's games. I looked back at the doorway, and for the first time, I noticed six little rubber duckies, suspended from the top. I pointed at them and asked Gail, "What are those all about?" She laughed, reaching into the cooler to make me an ice pack, and answered, "So many people hit their heads on that door, that I hung those up there, thinking people would see them and instantly think to DUCK!!!"
Thanks for letting me relive a sweet moment with my sister.

Somehow, when I read your word, "spreadsheet," I got this huge--trust me, it was...
humongus--visual of my butt melting like butter, spreading all around me like a puddle--well, okay, more like a lake, if I'm honest.
I'll
never be able to look at my Spread Sheet the same way again,

is a
spread sheet. It measures just how spread out I got before trying to contain myself again. My mind works in such strange ways...maybe I was too long in the birth canal? I'll have to ask Mom.

Well I have been officially censored from Kimkins supposedly for violating the terms of my contract. I did not even say anything bad just questioned the system.
Allison Yeah you found me... If you have not been banned yet try and get ahold of Angela and let her know where we are. I tried to get my private email out to you guys before I left but I am sure everything has been erased. It says I have 2 private messages but can't get them. I did leave a link to this forum but she probably erased that too. This is all so James Bond.
Robin, I am in Hollister which is a small town south east of San Jose. Most people know about it for our link to Marlon Brandos movie the Wild Ones which has spawned a hugh motorcycle rally each 4th of July. We moved here from Santa Cruz 3 years ago to slow things down a bit. I miss looking at the coast but I certainly do not miss the traffic or politics.
Everyone else welcome to our new Challenge home. Anyone who has ideas of how to make our challenge better from another forum, Please speak up.

Hey Patti! You are right your comments have been erased from earlier. I sent a pm to Angela & tried to get her email to tell her where we are. I hope that works.
To anyone who doesn't know me, I am Allison. I am 33 years old & have been happily married for 15 years. I have 3 children: 14 yo girl, 10 yo boy, & 7 yo girl.
We live in Louisiana, & I work with my husband in our nursery( trees not kids). I run the office for him.
As far as my diet goes, I lost 27 lbs. on kk. I guess I'll try Atkins now. I tried it a couple of years ago & lost 11 lbs. After that the weight loss stopped. Hopefully that will not happen this time.
Welcome to anyone who is joining our Halloween Challenge. It helps me to be accountable to someone else. Patti & Angela have been there for me at kk & I bet we can meet a few new friends here!

May I join also? My start weight would have been about 210.. I may be the one from the darkside that Robin is referring to. I am sure that reference has been made about me a time or two before.
I do not know how to put a ticker on my signature... One of these days I will figure it out. I think I am still a little lost on this site, but will keep trying.
By the by... I am slightly Native American, 38, live in Washington, married to a great cook, own a restaurant, 2 rotten daughters, 3 dogs, 3 very rotten cats and am an admin asst by trade as well as a moonlighting waitress and bookkeeper.

Wiyaga In order to add Tickers to your signature. You go to a site like tickerfactory.com make a ticker and then copy the Bulliten board link they give you and paste it in the signature spot which can be found under your controls.

Allison If you want to stay low fat which is more heart healthy I would suggest looking into the "Lean for Life" Book. I used it too lose about 55 pounds in about 5 months several years ago before my surgerys put me back at square one. I really liked the book and program. Plus if you order their protein bars off their website they are totally nummy.(chocolate mint) plus they have the added benefit of making you thirsty and I usually polish off a large bottle of water with them

I appreciate the help in trying to provide information to others. But low-fat is not necessarily MORE heart-healthy than a high-fat, low-carb diet.
There is ample evidence of this that I have blogged it previously:
" Study: Long-Term Heart Health Issues With Low-Carb Diets Unfounded"Now you can choose to lower your fat, but it is inaccurate to say low-fat is more heart-healthy. THANKS!

Jimmy, My doctor beleives that for me a lower fat diet is better as there are heart problems on both of my parents sides of the family, including my mother who had a valve replacement.
Lowfat is by no means no fat. The program I am talking about includes lots of chicken, fish, eggs, olive oil & even lean beef. But you are right what is good for me might not be as good for others.

THANKS Patti! Most doctors believe this is true because in their ONE WEEK of nutrition education in medical school that's what they've been told. But there's more than meets the eye regarding this which
Gary Taubes outlines in his new book
Good Calories, Bad Calories releasing next week. THANK YOU for sharing your experiences, Patti!

Wow, you are doing so good. I have not been doing as good, but I am now at about 208, but will try to get on track again. Too much turmoil caused me to stress a little. But my choices were not entirely bad. Gotten forgive myself sometime!!

Maybe we can get some friendly competition going with them? LOL
Keep a team total going?

Just a a thought, I vote keep them separate so we keep the groups smaller as well.

Sep 21 2007, 1:12pm
I like small groups also. So I will be staying here where hopefully my old Kimkin buddies can find me.
However I think maybe you have hit upon a great idea for a challenge. We could start our own biggest looser competion with teams, elect team captains who would track everyones weight and report to the group board. We could maintain separate boards for each team but have a group board for weekly weigh ins. Although in our competion no one would get voted off.
Jimmy Moore

That's an outstanding idea, Patti! Let me know if you decide to start that and I'll make your own forum thread for this.

I'm game if everyone else is. Jimmy a special board for it would be great. I was thinking groups of no more than 10 people. People could make there own groups and pick a color. Maybe take a week or two to gather up groups and get ready to start.

Get your groups build in this thread Patti and let me know how many you have. We'll set it up from there. I'd be happy to make you the moderator of that group, too, if you'd like.

I love the idea of teams of 10! thats awesome!
irol770
Sep 24 2007, 9:58am
Ya, I'd like to know what the team idea is as well. Are we going to compete against each other? Is it just a Halloween challenge, or will we go beyond that? Will we post here or start a new thread? Will each team have their own thread?
Just a few questions...
pattim165
Sep 24 2007, 12:34pm
I am going to start another thread in the challenge area. Where people could make teams of up to 10 people and join the challenge. Like biggest loser we would weigh in once a week. How I am hoping it will work is that each group/team will have their own separate thread where they can support each other. The team captain will track the stats and report to a challenge board once a week, probably on Monday.
I figured it was a way for all of the refugees to stay in the groups that they were comfortable with but to unite in a challenge. Prove we can do just fine without the other site. I have 2 groups of people I was working with on Kimkins, so that is who I wanted to base my team on.
We can run the challenge for 6-8 weeks on the first run, depending what people think. I originally was just throwing it out there but Jimmy thought it was a good idea, so I am giving it a shot.
