Welcome Peg
70 is still young and losing weight will make it easier
I'll be 52, in Feb. One of the many reasons I am gonna lose weight is to make my senior years easier

I'm clocking in at 60, Pegala...and your powers of observation are astounding. This really is a kinder, gentler community...and we're all so modest, too!
Welcome!

Hi, Carolia!
Yep, age IS just a number if we frame it correctly! They say that sixty is the new forty, and I'm gonna prove them right!
Hope you had an awesome day!
Love,
Jazzy

Hi Pegala -- did you say your arthritis is so much better doing low carb? Oh, I soooo hope that is true for me too! I've been having a horrible time with arthritis in my knee, and when it's really bad my ankle swells up very badly. Okay, if that's the case I may be moving my start date up from October 1st to....tomorrow!
Didn't have arthritis when I did Atkins 10-15 years ago.

Yeah, Carolia...
Way cooler than Jimmy's Rubber Duckie. Plus, we all float, being 99% pure, in word, thought and deed.

Now about age, I've read that it doesn't matter unless you're wine, or cheese. And I've heard it said about age, that if you don't mind, it don't matter. Personally, the way I keep age in perspective...I consider the alternative.

I have a couple of work collegues in my company that are in their 70s.
Heck they haven't retired yet.
70 is the new 50!

Luvdogs, my arthritis improved tremendously with low carb. Your knees sound like mine! I was so bad that I often couldn't sleep at night unless I climbed in a recliner, and even then sometimes the pain was so much, so relentless (like a bad toothache!), that I just whimpered.
Don't expect immediate results, however. It's only been in the last year or two that I've felt a vast improvement, and I've been doing this for 5 years plus. My losses have been painfully slow, but with each few pounds you find that the knees improve bit by bit, and with the increase in good health you will also do better.
I take glucosamine/chondrointin/MSM every day, which helps, too.
Losing weight has helped with the arthritis in my lower back, too. I'm getting it in my fingers, but losing weight doesn't help there!
I really hope that this way of eating (woe) benefits you as much as it did me.
BTW, my dad, when turning 40, said "40's not old, 50 is old." Then when turning 50, he said "50's not old, 60 is old", and so on. I think when he turned 70 he finally figured out he was getting old, but by then he had health problems, and probably felt old by then. I plan on keeping my health, and avoiding the things he suffered.
Oh, I'm 55, and I'm healthier in my 50s than I ever was in my 40s, and I'm going to be even healthier when I get to my 60s. So there!

in reply the arthritis is so much better, one knee is better then the other but just pulling my big fat body up put a tremendous strain on my joints so much better..I agree I was in pain most of the night knees ankles etc..but I must say I am taking 1500 mg of pure powdered glucosamine apparently all glucosamine is not created equal and I do take a celebrex too..but honestly it was mostly the weight I am sure..I can easily get out of booths, cars etc...Well worth dieting for
