Admom --
I started Atkins yesterday, after eating every carb-laden thing I could get my hands on for two weeks while I decided whether Kimkins was worth it or not! I am the opposite of you: I would probably be better off if I looked at ratios of fat to protein to carbs. . . I spend my entire workday immersed in data, so the last thing I want to do is analyze my food!
I eat pretty much any protein I want, with little to no regard to fat or calories (makes it easy to reach 1200/day). I've posted this other places, but fat is what kills my appetite. As an example, I had bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast yesterday, using some of the bacon grease to cook the eggs in. I looked up at 1:00 and realized I should eat something, even though I was barely hungry. This morning, I overslept so I had a protein shake on the way to work -- 100 calories, 0 carbs, 0 fat. As soon as I post this, I'm going to get my lunch out of the break room!
Sorry -- back to the subject. I don't add gratuitous fat, but I don't make any effort to cut fat out, either. Once I'm in ketosis, I'll have to be a little more diligent about at least tracking calories, since I won't be all that interested in eating. . . but I won't be shooting for any maximum or minimum calories for a day. The only thing I actually count is carbs -- everything else is subject purely to my whims!
I believe Jimmy tracks his ratios, so he should be able to give you some intelligent advice -- but I'm taking this opportunity to enjoy food again!
