I need prayer for my furbaby. My ferret Sadie is not doing well. She is lethargic, barely eating, losing weight, and constantly licking her mouth. I've asked some questions on a couple of ferret groups and they think it may be ulcers or insulinoma (low blood sugar with growths). Either way, it could be very serious. My little girl was crying last night because she's scared Sadie will die. While I tried to keep a brave face for her, inside I'm very worried too. We've had her since she was 4 months old, she's now almost 4 years, which is middle aged for a ferret.
It sounds like the treatments could get expensive as well, and we currently don't have the budget for something like this. So please help us pray for her health and for the financial needs. I'm not sure how we'll pay for much more than a check-up, but we'll do what we can. I gong to try to get her to the vet this afternoon.
Thanks everyone!

Awwww.. I will pray for Sadie.. and for you and your daughter as well.

I had a sick hamster this past summer.. and we had to put her to sleep a few weeks ago. So, I know what you're going through. (Dr. wasn't sure if it was tumors or a failed to deliver pregancy!!!)
Make sure you get some pictures of Sadie with your daughter. She will appreciate the memories no matter what happens.

Pets are as much a part of the "family" so it's not that strange at all, Amy. We'll remember your little critter in our prayers.
Sorry to hear about your hamster, Deni. I too
lost my little Millie Jo to leukemia last April and it hurts when you lose a close pet like that.

Thanks everyone. I jsut got back from the vet. Sadie has Insulinoma. She will have to be on prednisolone the rest of her life (which is probably about 4 more years if all goes well). Thankfully a years supply for her is only about $10. We are having to force feed her because her blood sugar is so low she has no appetite or energy. The hardest part is that she'll have to have surgery to remove the growth as soon as she's well again. It will cost several hundred dollars. We don't have the budget for that I'm not really sure how we'd get it. He says that surgery would buy her probably one more year, then we'd have to see. The growth could come back after that.
So we are praying for a miracle. We are asking God to heal Sadie where surgery will not be required. Would you all agree with us in this prayer? I know God cares about the little things as well as the big things. This is nothing for Him. I'm actually a bit excited to see her healed and watch my children's faith grow by leaps and bounds in seeing such a miraculous answer to their prayers. It can happen and I'm going to believe God for it!

Thanks again everyone. We were able to get just enough food in her system today to give her the medication. We'll just have to see how it goes from here.

Thank so much for your prayers everyone. They seem to be working!

She's doing much better today. She looks better and she's eating pretty well, but only if hand we feed her. She still hasn't taken to feeding herself (I think she's enjoying being spoiled. LOL) but hopefully that will happen soon. Her eyes are clearer and she seems to have more energy with each day. I think her blood sugar is finally getting straightened out.

I wanted to give another update. Sadie is doing wonderful! She has put back on weight and her bones aren't as noticable. She's "feeling" much more normal when we hold her and play with her. She's back to her frisky self!

I know this disease will eventually take her.. there is no cure. But we'll help her live as long as she comfortabley can.
