Hi again!
As I mentioned in a different thread, I tend to lose weight more easily in the Winter, and I maintain or gain in the Summer. Since I'm much more active in the Summer, what is going on here?
Then it hit me that this is what a bear's metabolism is like. Even though a bear is much more active in the summer, he gains a ton of weight to carry him through winter hibernation. I'm of northern European descent, so I figure my genes may be adapted that way. I also heard somewhere that your body utilizes more fat when you're cold, no matter what your diet is.
Well, I'd like to hear from people out there with 4 seasons, do you notice a difference? Are there other factors I should consider? What about these "eat for your blood type" theories I've heard about? Is it all in my head?
The LAB is ready to receive your data!
Thanks so much,
Curt

Curt, I tend to gain very slightly in winter and lose very slightly in summer. Just me, I suppose. (I do not like the cold weather.)
I believe that the "eat for your blood type" diet is based on VERY bad science. The proteins that you eat do not enter your bloodstream as whole foods, so mixing them with blood to draw a conclusion is logically meaningless.
And just to toss in an anecdotal report, I am Type A. I SHOULD BE A VEGETARIAN!! AND MY FAVORITE SPORT SHOULD BE GOLF!! EEK!
Hello, Misery! I don't care if you love company or not; I'm OUTTA here! LOL.
As long as there are three or more cows left on the planet, I won't be a vegetarian! And if the population ever gets down to only two, I'll be playing matchmaker.

I lose alot more in the winter.
I think it's because I tend to hibernate more in the summer when it's hot out. I HATE the heat but even with our COLD Cdn winters, I will still get dressed and go out to the gym and workout just to stay warm.
It's funny how people lose it differently and for different reasons.

Last winter was awful for me because I was on LA weight loss and the portions I was prescribed didn't take into account I was biking in very cold weather.I was starving all the time. Summer was a lot easier because I had acess to all those gorgeous local veggies as opposed to the trucked-up-from-chile wax tomatoes (eww).
Also we don't have AC, so when the heat's at its worst, so I have no appetite for anything except ice cold shrimp and cucumber slices. anyone could lose weight living on that!

I gain a little in the wintertime, too, and it's not because I pig out during the holidays. I stay VERY good and still slightly gain. But if I did cheat, I'd easily put on 25 pounds from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Isn't it funny how we start a weight loss plan just as it gets into the Winter season...on January 1st! LOL! No wonder it's so hard!
