When I was losing weight in 2004, there's no doubt in my mind that my daily cardio workouts helped me lose weight more efficiently while gaining such much-needed muscle tone in places that needed it. I admit I have some work to do when it comes to resistance training and I'm working on that, but it would be interesting to hear from people who have done well with their fitness goals.
