I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir about the prevalence of sugar and how hard it is to avoid. Connie Bennett at Sugar Shock had a post about sugar in tomato sauce last Thursday.

This is totally unnecessary. It's just a conspiracy to keep us hooked on processed foods and boost sales!! smile.gif smile.gif

You can fight back. Just read labels. Ragu has a "light" pasta sauce with no added sugar. I have found some local store-brand premium varieties with no added sugar. They are just as good as the sugared versions. I don't use a lot of pasta sauce, but it's good on for low carb pizza and over spaghetti squash.

My husband loves canned chili. I won't buy it because of the added sugar. Really now, does chili NEED sugar???

Sugar and corn and in just about 95% of everything you buy with a label on it these days. Just check the next time you're in a grocery store...you'll see some derivative of corn or sugar in EVERYTHING! Please report back those things you don't because they will be few and far between!

I have found that imported Italian tomatoes don't always have sugar in them.

I buy Italian San Martino tomatoes (boy those were EXPENSIVE to ship but that CASE will last me a LONG time! LOL). Also, the VERY pricey spaghetti sauces (up on the top shelf at big stores) have NO sugar in them at all and are VERY low in carbs. Just the tomato carbs.
