If you've read my other posts then you probably know I don't really like challenges, at least for myself. Probably because I'm a "sore loser" and a "slow loser. I've challenged myself to lose a size by Halloween and get into my "conquest jeans". All you need for this challenge is your favorite item of clothing "old" or "new" that's one size too small. No scale required.

Guys you're invited too. So join me in my quest for the "smaller size".

I like this plan Melodie, Can I join in on this quest too!?????

melodiegale
Hey beccabear07,

Of course you can. Do you have a piece of clothing in mind you are trying to "conquer"?
zyarah
Hi Melodie, I just got back from a Cruise AND was already 6 pounds over goal SOOOOOOOOOOO that's 12 pounds AND this morning my work slacks were WAY too tight. The creep has got me!!! Unless I want to buy all new pants I MUST get it back off. The recent pod cast was perfect to give me motivation. I'm pumped. I'm ready. Bring it on!!! LOL. (that cruise shrunk my pants!!)
melodiegale
Go girl! You'll get it back fast. Some of it may very well be water. Cruises as wonderful as they are, scare me. They are like one continuous 24 hour floating buffet.
valerieslivingbooks
Melodie, I just updated my "conquest pants" thread. I did a try-on this morning, and you just reminded me to look for that thread.

I would love to wear this by Hallowe'en....
QUOTE
A Size 1 Gap blue jean skirt with a Lizsport size 2 bright red vest. I last wore these to watch a movie with my husband in about November or December 2005. When I can wear this, I will switch to Maintenance, regardless of what the scale says.

So count me in, in a hopeful-but-not-really-definite kinda way. LOL.

Actually, our church is having a dance sometime in October; can't remember the date. I kinda had in mind it would be cool to wear this combo for that, but I really dunno if my body will be ready for that or not.

(That's my goal size. I was there from September 2005 to March 2006 and felt great. It's not too thin for me--5' 6" and small-boned.)
melodiegale
Valerie,

That's too funny because I just posted on your thread. It seemed to get lost which is why I didn't post to it before. You know our bodies, we can shoot for it, we can hope for it, but it's ultimately up the body when it's going to let go of the fat. I have to say, that this way of eating is becoming such a way of life that it's not a matter of not cheating anymore, because I'm not even tempted, it's just a matter of when my body decides to let go of the fat. I know it will happen, I just don't know when or how fast.

I'm rooting for you to wear that outfit to your church dance. You'll be steppin' proud if you do! Glad you joined our challenge.
Wanda
I have a couple pairs of pants that i bought on sale that i would love to be into by then. Almost there..............I think I do better without scales too.
I seem to lose inches before weight.
melodiegale
Wanda, many of us do especially if we are working out or just starting an exercise program. Positive changes in your diet can also help your body recompose meaning more lean active muscle tissue. Muscle takes up a lot less space lb. for lb. then fat. Welcome and I'm glad you joined us.
melodiegale
Hi Everybody,

So far we have 5 people doing the size by Halloween challenge. That gives us almost 6 weeks to get off a size. We can do it! We're looking forward to smaller jeans, skirts, and shirts by then.
Jimmy Moore
Ya'll need a mascot for this Halloween Challenge. How about this one?

Perfect!

I'm in! I have a pair of jeans that I can barely get fastened, and they look like pure hell on me. Does that sound like one size too small?

If not, I have several other sizes in my closet, left there with the hope that some day... you know how it is. smile.gif

Now I just have to come up with a sig and add the jack-o-lantern!

robin
melodiegale
Hey Robin, the more the merrier. Your jeans sound about like mine. I can get them zipped but they wouldn't be very comfortable to wear. I think I can add the pumpkin to your siggy if you like. Let me know.
runnergirl
Oh this sounds good for me. I've really been trying to get away from relying on the scale lately. So focusing on a size is much more doable! I have a pair of 7 jeans that I have my eye on but I haven't bought them yet. I was planning on getting them next week. When I tried them on, I had the whole muffin top thing going. laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Good girl!
debbyg
count me in too!! i bought a cute pair of capri pants from walmart a few weeks ago, and didn't feel like trying them on. well, of course i can't even zip them!! so, in a month i'd be thrilled if they would fit!
Jimmy Moore
Welcome to my forum, Debby! It's good to have you here. wink.gif
melodiegale
Julie and Deb welcome. I think this is going to be a fun challenge. You guys can do it.
debbyg
thanks Jimmy and Melodie! I'm excited to be here! I've been telling all my friends about this forum. trying to get them to sign up!

melodiegale
Thanks for spreading the word. We are proud of our forum, but it would be nothing without the great members we have and their contributions.
Jimmy Moore
I echo Melodie in saying we're glad you are here, Debby! wink.gif

So far so good! I pulled out my Atkins book and re-read induction. Off to a good start. Began Tuesday so 4 days and lost 4.5 pounds. Yes, that first day I was drinking and peeing all day - LOL. BUT after the first day headache (which is just punishment for eating all those carbs) I am feeling ever so much better. Why I eat all that crap to begin with I will never figure out since it doesn't make me feel good. But, sigh, I do and probably will again. I'm going to see my sister in california the last week of October so if I can get off the entire 12 by then it would be good. Not going to stress over it as long as I'm eating right and in a downward trend instead of upward. 12 is do-able - I refuse to go back up more. REFUSE I SAY!!
This morning was a feta cheese omlete and bacon. Dinner last night steak and a salad with some yummy virgin olive oil and wine vinigar. I love this diet cause it never feels like a diet. My only issue with induction is fruit. I really miss my one fruit a day on maintenance. But, this isn't forever and oh so worth it.
This challege sure came at the right time.
Oh - also back to Curves for 3 times a week. I was seriously becoming a slug going there too. AND, they started a little contest "fitness survivor". To stay in the game you have to come 3 times a week and so various other stuff to stay in it. Prize at the end. So, with all this I should have no problem keeping with it. Also, hubby gained on the cruise and is determined to get it back off too. (he's also a low-carber and took off 60 pounds.
Good luck to all of us. Hooray!!!
melodiegale
Hi zyarah,

Glad all is going well. I work out Mon.,Wed.,Fri. For this challenge I wanted to add Tues.,Thurs., cardio, but my knee isn't cooperating with me. I think I have tendonitis. Hopefully it will be better next week. Keep up the good work!
debbyg
melodie,
could you tell me a little bit how barry groves differs from atkins? i've looked at walmart's for both books, but i guess i'm gonna have to go to barnes & noble when i get a day off or order from amazon.com. i've read some, i started out the first 2 weeks on kimkins, but after reading several things on different forums, left there real quick, i did lose 10 lbs in about 10-12 days, but it's been a month and that's all i've lost. i've been keeping the carbs pretty low, but i guess not low enough.
thanks for your help,
debby

Hi Debby,

If you will go to this link, there is a good overview of the plan. If you think it is a fit for you then join us at the Groves Forum and we'll try to answer any questions you might have.

rolleyes.gif Yeppers add me in. I was just given a brand new pair of 1960's bell bottom jeans. They were never worn by my friend. She is far too small for them now. I loved that style when they were in but too fat to wear them. I am going
Halloween as a 1960's gal, have the the jeans, cannot button or zip them.

So what do we do? Come on here and talk about our menu plans.

Let me know. "cause I'm in. I want to wear those jeans. They are way cool.

barbo
melodiegale
Welcome Barbo. You can talk about anything you want to. I will probably try my conquest jeans on tomorrow to see if I've made any progress.

60's bellbottoms sound like so much fun. Good luck with them and post as often as you like!

Hey Everyone,

It's Monday and I'm just checking in. I wish I had better news, but no change in the way the pants are fitting. I'm really frustrated, but I think it might be too much Carbsmart Ice Cream that's slowing me down. I haven't eaten large servings of it, but it's become an every night thing. So time to get back to basics.
robinw
Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing well today.

I haven't tried on my conquest pants this week, but I have a mini-victory to report. I have a long-ish blouse that used to be so tight around my hips, I could barely get it pulled all the way down. I wore it this weekend, and it fit perfectly.

Woo-hoo! Let's hear it for small victories. Happy, happy, joy, joy. biggrin.gif

Good LC-ing this week to all!
runnergirl
Hi Everyone,

I'm going to get my conquest jeans this week. I tried on a few pairs on Friday and right now I'm about a 28 in those designer jeans sizes. I don't know what that converts to in single digits. I'm not getting on the scale at all until next Monday so I have no idea if I'm losing but I have been able to wear a size 6 skirt that was a little too tight a few weeks ago. That's progress at least. biggrin.gif

Robin -- That's great! All the small victories add up to one big one. biggrin.gif

Melodie -- I can't do too much of the lc ice cream and still lose. I wish I could but I've really had to cut out most of my lc treats.
melodiegale
Thanks Julie. Everyone else is saying pretty much the same thing. I thought that stuff was too good to be true mad.gif

One good thing I re-learned from this whole kk debacle, "If it sounds too good to be true, then it is." wink.gif

I'll just have to look forward to Carbsmart ice cream at maintenance. smile.gif

Me too!

Heck yes, that's progress, sister! And no "least" about it!

Congrats and keep it up. Or, in our case, down.

KimPossible
Hey all! Is it okay if I join your challenge? I have a pair of jeans I have worn successfully in the last two months, but they are really tight now. So, Starting Tuesday a.m., I am in this challenge--I hope to have them fit or lose by Halloween. smile.gif Will try them on in the a.m. (and check mr. scale).
melodiegale
Welcome Kim! Good luck!
KimPossible
Thanks Melodie! I need it! LOL
runnergirl
Hi Kim,

Welcome!
KimPossible
Good Morning! Thanks Julie! I forgot to get on Mr. Scale this a.m.--the ticker is an estimate--I HOPE it's less than that, I have been maintaining around 155, so...

Haven't tried on my jeans yet...I have to go to class in a bit, and will do it then. How is everyone this a.m.? Is there a set "try on" day? laugh.gif

I love fall and LOVE Halloween! smile.gif Rock on!
runnergirl
Good morning! I'm not getting on the scale until Monday. I'm trying to see if I can break my scale addiction without going completely off the rails. We'll see. Part of me thinks I need frequent weigh ins for accountability.

Do we have a try on day? I'm not sure. I haven't bought my conquest jeans yet so I have to go to the mall to try them on. biggrin.gif
EtheralKim
I am joining every challenge! LOL Can I join this one too?

I have a pair of size 10/11 jeans that I want to be into by Halloween (well before then honestly wink.gif ) and would love to join you all!

I think thats a great idea to have a try on day Julie and report any change from hoe they fit from previous weeks.

valerieslivingbooks
Welcome, Kim!
EtheralKim
Thank you Valerie!
robinw
Welcome KimPossible and EtheralKim... best of luck on the challenge! The more the merrier. smile.gif

runnergirl, a try on day sounds like a plan. It would help take my mind off of Mr. Scale.

Have a good one, all!

runnergirl
Actually the try on day idea was KimPossible's. biggrin.gif I think it's a great idea.
EtheralKim
Ok so what day should be try on day? Since I started Inductio last Thursday, my weigh day is thursday.

I can do try on any day. smile.gif i would like to not try them on for another week, but I have a thing coming up and I want to wear them I think its next week, maybe the 4th? If so I am going to exercise my BUTT off to get in them comfortably.

I can wear them, they are just not comfortable as the cut into my belly and I have a very attractive muffin top, LOL wink.gif

runnergirl
I can do any day. Halloween is on a Wednesday so we could do every Wednesday.
