Well, I've decided to make myself at home here. I haven't moved in completely, but I'm just getting myself a place for now.

My name is ChrisTina(yes, one word with a capital T), as you may know by now. I'm a Kimkin's refugee. I started Kimkins on 07/22/2007. I've never been able to keep to the plan, as far as my meats aren't always the leanest. I love my ribeye steak, too much. I also tweaked the plan, sometimes subtracting fiber from my total carbohydrates to allow for extra carbs on some days.

I found that even by doing this, I still lost weight. I also realized I wasn't doing Kimkins anymore, but a version of "Atkins and I."
So, here I am. I may reveal more of myself later on. For now, I'm 36 and married to a wonderful man named Steve. We have three cats and a dog, which are our "babies," since we have no human ones. There are no plans for any human babies, either. But, that's another story for another day...maybe.

Welcome ChrisTina!!!
So happy your taking up residence here with us too!
Thanks Paula and Kim for stopping by. Feel free to drop by anytime! You're always welcome in my corner of the low-carb world!

Paula, I will post some pics of my babies for you, soon!
This is Sassy, our two-year old Cockapoo:

Here's Loki and Garfield, my two boys:

And here's Perky and Loki sleeping, or trying to:

Funny thing is, my friend found Loki at her doorstep on Christmas eve. She couldn't keep him, so I took him in. She told me he was a she, so I figured I'd name her Holly for the Holidays. I took her to the vet a few days later and found she was a 'he.' So, Loki got his name from Loki, the trickster god of Norse mythology. Of course, Garfield is named after my favorite cartoon character. Perky got her name from my favorite comic book character, Perky Goth. She's from John Kovalic's comic book series, "Dork Tower." We took her to the vet for her shots about a month ago and she about jumped off the table when the Vet poked her with the needle! He laughed and said, "She sure is Perky!" LOL! Her favorite toy is a small tennis ball that we got for the dog.
Now Sassy I guess I just picked that name out of the blue. It rhymed with Lassie, I guess. She's also turned out to be true to her name. Sassy as ever and spoiled rotten!

Well, I have to say I was officially banned from KK tonight. All I did was post to LCF that my journal was deleted. Nothing else. Oh well, at least I got my journal deleted from the KK site, which is what I wanted done.
FYI, I had left a link to my journal in my signature file. Every post in my journal, I edited to include links to Becky's, Deni's and Christin's journal. It was deleted, but I wasn't banned. I posted to LCF that it was deleted and bam I get a TOS violation message when I try to view the KK site. LMAO!

No big loss Mrs A, except for any friends you might still have over there. More and more Kimkins people are arriving daily. I think you'll see most of them again. The word seems to be out.

Hey ChrisTina, It is really quiet over there so you are not missing much. In 3 days there have only been 2 pages posted in our old group and most of those were by the same person.

Thanks Jimmy. After being on K/E so long, it's hard to get used to carbs.

I've had this overwhelming urge to cry, but I can't. I feel so sad, yet I can't explain why. The last two nights I overate on my carbs. I bought the carb smart ice cream bars and binged on them. I need to get my emotional eating under control, it seems. I'm not one to be able to convey my feelings into words, easily, otherwise I could journal instead. In other news, the tests went well today. It'll take a few days before I know the results though. I know it's in God's hands now. It's always been hard for me to give it up to God, though. My mother raised me to think that "God only helps those who help themselves." So I've never really relied on God before. In this case I have to. There's no way I can control it and binging isn't going to help me.

That phrase "God only helps those who help themselves" does not come from the Bible. God is a loving and merciful Father who will give you everything you need to do what He would have you do. It's amazing how He reaches out to us with such love and grace.

Thanks, Jimmy. I've never really been a religious person, but I think I'll start reading my Bible again.

Hi Chris,
You can so see the weight loss in your face!! Sorry your feeling sad. You are going through a lot right now. Just be nice to yourself. I know what you mean about the binges. It is so easy to fall back into what has made us feel better in the past. My poor husband...because I haven't been able to turn to food he has had some of the impact of my emotions. It's a good thing that he understands a little what I'm going through. It's a whole new experience to have to face the feelings and not stuff them down with food. I hope you can find a new outlet. It is very hard to put things in God's hand. I struggle with that a lot. I say "God take this out of my hands......never mind I think I can handle it myself." I know you haven't had the best experiences, but God does love you. He is just waiting for you to ask Him in.

Thanks, Sandi. The tests went well. Just have to wait for the results, now.
I had to post this because to be totally honest, I forgot it! Like I said earlier, I'm not a religious person. I love to learn about religions and Christianity was one I've rarely delved into with my studies, because I grew up with it. I was baptised a Lutheran and went to a private Christian school until I was in HS. My father converted from a Catholic to Lutheran just to marry my mother, who was a Lutheran. It was pretty much forced upon us and of course, I rebelled. Went to church until I moved out of my parents at the age of 24. Then I never looked back, but a few times. Anyway, so I can memorize it again, I'm posting the Lord's Prayer:
Our Father, which art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
in earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
Speaking of religion, like I said, I grew up a Christian until the age of 24 when I stopped going to church. In my heart I probably wasn't a Christian, I don't recall. I know I was angry with God for the longest time about things that happened in my childhood and my teen years. Things I couldn't control, once again. Now that I'm older I believe that everything happens for a reason. I went through a born-again Christian phase and even went on to be baptized in the Mormon church. I still have friends, online, that are Mormon, yet I don't believe everything they teach. That baptism happened back in July last year. I only went to the LDS church for about a month before I learned more about it and decided it wasn't right for me. I admire and respect all my friends who are Mormon/LDS, though. I guess I just stopped worrying about being spiritual in a sense, because my husband is pretty much agnostic. Me, I believe, but I don't know what to believe. I mean, I believe in a higher power, namely God. I just don't know what I specifically believe in my heart. I don't think about it much. Well, I do pray. I pulled out my Bible tonight and my husband was like, "Oh are you going to get religious on me?" And I said, "No." Although, I honestly don't know. I like church, and I wish he would go with me. Who knows, maybe now that he's going to first shift, he might since it'll be his schedule. :-/
My favorite Bible verse: "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." Psalm 91:11
Oh yes, I do believe in Angels.
