Hi Everyone,
Hope that you don't mind that I started this thread. On two other boards, we had a weekly Friday maintenance weigh in thread, where people reported how they did that week. It was a big help to me.
Friday seems to be the best day to report in, since it gives you the whole week to think about staying motivated.
I know it's a day late, but I thought I'd start everyone out by posting my weight for yesterday:
210 / 135 / 134
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Here goes:
167/122.5/117
5'7" tall
50 years old
The last time I was at my goal weight was last September when I got down to 116 pounds for a couple days. The last time I was down below 120 was the beginning of May of this year. That was just before my trip to England where I gained 8 pounds. I don't look bad at this weight but it doesn't give me any leeway at all and I can't wear some of my jeans until I'm below 120. It's hard to believe that a couple pounds can make that much difference, but they do.

Thanks for starting this thread!
Im at 138 this morning. I did reach 136 for about a minute

My original goal weight was 150, so Im still A-ok.

Interesting thread idea. Okay, I'm game. Here are my numbers:
Starting weight: 410 pounds
Original goal weight: 230 pounds
Current weight: 223 pounds
New goal weight: 200 pounds (which may happen if I ever get that tummy tuck!)
I've hovered around 220 for about six months. The key is I don't panic when the weight goes up. I just shore up the areas where I have gotten lax and all is well again in a few days.

The BEST way I've ever eaten in my entire life!

Thanks Margarita!! I loved our weekly weigh ins... really helps keep me accountable. OK so I was on vacation last week and so I think I'm still catching up from that but here ya go w/ my stats for this week:
Starting weight: 240
Goal weight: 140
Current weight: 141
Up a pound... but heck... from being on vacation and fairly lax at that.. I think that's pretty darn good

LOL I'll be running a lot more this next week too so that should help.
Jimmy I'm like you.. I don't fret about a couple of pounds as long as my clothes are fitting good I'm ok. I simply adjust and par back on the extras, up my fluid and get some excersise and that usually seems to do the trick for me.
Looking forward to this!
BTW Jimmy...

do I get a hottie name too?
Jimmy Moore
Sep 15 2007, 2:58pm
ABSOLUTELY you do, Christin! I would give you "Cover Girl Hottie" but that designation already belongs to Cartbabe (Mary) who was on the front of
People magazine in January. How about "I'm Just A Hottie?" Or something else? Get creative!

Hey guys,
Here are my numbers this week:
Starting weight: 410 pounds
Original goal weight: 230 pounds
Current weight: 224 pounds
New goal weight: 200 pounds (which may happen if I ever get that tummy tuck!)
Up a pound, but it's no biggie. I'm feeling BETTER now than I did when I got down to 215 a few months back. Being healthier is so much better than being thinner.

I didn't lose anything this week but at least I'm still where I started. I did gain a pound at one point during the week but I lost it again.
Close your eyes, Jimmy, I'm about to post TMI. My TOM arrived this morning and I didn't gain anything and may have actually gone down about 1/4 pound!
Starting weight - 167
Original goal weight - 120
Lowest weight - 116-117
Last week's weigh-in weight - 122.5
Current weight - 122.5 (122.25???)

Starting weight: 210

I haven't gone off plan, other than adding more fat to my diet. Carbs are low. Protein OK. Total calories around 1300-1400.
Hmmm ... what's up with that?

Margarita - repeat after me.... NORMAL FLUXUATION, NORMAL FLUXUATION...

LOL
You're ok... our bodies do weird things like that some times. But its perfectly normal and OK, just stick to your plan and you'll be fine! If you're feeling a little "bloated" like retaining water or something, try drinking a little more water and sweating.. doesn't even have to be "formal" excercise.. yard work, whatever.. just to help flush out the water weight.

I know... sometimes I'm up 2 lbs and then next day (no change in diet whatsoever, I'm down 2.5, next day up 1... it's weird... but as long as I stay w/in my range I"m ok.

Good job staying the course this week everyone!

I agree with Christin. As long as the normal fluxuations don't become WEEKLY ones, you should be just fine. Don't sweat it! On second thought, maybe DO sweat it--AT THE GYM!

Margarita... I heard once that you are not supposed to get concerned about a gain until it has sustained over a period of 3-4 weeks. Sometimes water weight can take that long to come back off. Then, if your weight has not gone back down, you should re-evaluate what you are doing.. but no need to adjust just because you are up a pound for a day or so... just stick to what you know works!

You're doing great! I know it's hard though... when I got back from my sister's wedding... I was up 6lbs!!!

But it all came back off w/in just a few weeks... so it was water weight

Hey!! I'll be thinking about you when I work out too... I have to do it early like you because I don't have any other time during the day to do it!

I'll join the weigh in's. I've been on maintenance 2 years and yes, along with everyone else struggle to maintain within 10 pounds. Especially when summer comes with more parties and vacations. Currently trying to get off that summer AND cruise weight. LOL
Starting: 212
Goal was: between 140-145
reached: 136.5
Currently: 146
New goal: 138
I'm going on another vacation toward the end of October AND a another cruise the end of November so would like to get to goal before I leave. Don't want to add weight on top of more weight. Guess that's what maintenance is all about. I enjoy eating a few extra items on vacations and don't want to feel guilt or stress so just have worked like this for the last 2years. Not sure if that is bad or good but has worked so far.

Good morning!
Im at 138 this morning which is my "usual". I did reach 136 this last Tuesday but I seem to have a hard time staying there for more than a minute!
My original goal was 150, so Im doing ok.
I find that if I eat more one day, then my body naturally wants to eat less the next day so long as Im eating on plan. Anyone else experiencing this self regulation? It's interesting!

I've been under a little more stress lately (can't imagine what from!

), so I'm thinking my cortisol levels are making me gain a little. I'll work on relaxing a little more and not getting too worked up over things. I'm not worried about my weight. It'll come back down again.

Jimmy, honey, stop stressing out. Let go and let God. You and Christine are in my prayers.
You're so right on with the cortisol issue. I'll try to scrap up some research and write a short article to post. So many people hit a plateau or gain when they're doing it all right and it's because of their stress levels.

Hey everyone! Didn't get a chance to post yesterday - left for the beach - I did weigh yesterday. I donated blood this week so I don't know how that affected my weight, but I'll take it! Now after this weekend we'll see how my weight is next Friday.

Stress was a problem for me as well. To combat the problem, I turned to a stress-reducing activity. I've been meditating for about 7 years now (about an hour a day), and it's been a big help with the cortisol levels.

First post on the Friday weight in. Thanks Margarita for starting this one up.
CHRISTIN!!!!! I have your hottie name Chris-steamy!! Fits, I think!!
Highest weight - somewhere slightly above 210 in 2003.
Six months on South Beach - got down to 169
Soared to 192+
Started kimkins 6-5-07 Reached Goal 9-29-07
Goal 145
Current 143.7
YEAH!!
Still feel like I am stumbling along in the dark but I'm getting braver. One adverse reaction to increasing veggies was 12 hours staying near the potty. I had cramping and lots of "action". Hope I am not to indelicate. Lost 3.5 pounds overnight
That was Tuesday evening. My dh took me out to lunch yesterday and I asked for steamed broccoli with my entree'. Then I decided that was really stupid and just went with protein. My stomach felt much much better after that! Today I hve been buzzing with energy all day!
Have a great day.

Good Friday Morning Maintainers!!!
Thanks Indy for getting us started today!!

Well with all the stress of this last week and not being able to excercise, I fully expected to be up a bit, but I was surprised!

Oh that is so cute, Chris-STEAMY! You hot stuff you! LOL!

Absolutely, I LOVE IT!
I weighed in at 225 pounds this morning after (excuse being so blunt, but I'm sleep deprived right now) going poop about 10 times yesterday. The protein powder I used to make Linda's 3-minute flourless chocolate cake had TONS of fiber in it (I forgot!). Let's just say my colon is squeaky clean now.

If I stay between 220-230, then I'm happy. That's exactly where I am.

Good Morning Everyone,
This certainly has been a week in learning experiences. Earlier this week I had a wine induced meltdown. The indulgences were not planned but at the same time as I was standing in the kitchen weaving slightly, I found myself measuring out and weighing everything. So, not all was lost. I took your advice, all of the great advice, drank lots of water before retiring for the night, started back at my maintenance menu and not a knee-jerk - no carb at all - menu, stayed off the scales for a couple of days and increased my excercise. Yesterday, I was offered a piece of Baklava by the students who are reading the Iliad and sampling ancient foods. I think the Baklava was a departure from 20th century B.C., but we have a few modern Greeks. I almost said no, but then thought this could be a planned thought out indulgence. I thouroughly enjoyed that delicacy, did not feel the least bit guilty about it and continued on with my regular maintenance diet.
Jimmy, I want to apologize if my wine induced statement was taken the wrong way. I had stated that you were "quite kind to yourself with a ten pound allowance". That was not meant to be any type of negative comment. What I was trying to say was that you have accumulated the wisdom of experience and know that a swing in weight over a week or two or even a month does not spell doom. Also has a tall man, you have the abililty to carry a fluctuation of that size. As I gain in wisdom and experience, I will also be kinder to myself in that regard. I'm still at a point where a quarter or half pound gain can send me into a tizzy. To any one who was angered on Jimmy's behalf for my lousy wording, I apologize to you also.
Two weeks on maintenance -
goal 145
Today 145.2

Speaking of, my weight has been doing funky stuff lately. I'm up at 229 today and I'm not really sure why. But I'll just keep at it and make sure I'm not allowing anything in my diet that doesn't need to be there. Next week will be a challenge since I'll be on vacation in the Smoky Mountains (Pigeon Forge, TN) with my mom.
