Check out this guy's success story! wink.gif

Atkins diet that includes exercise is what I suggest. This is what I'm doing now after I left Kimkins.

Okay well I couldn't handle Kimkins beyond 38 hours... but I think a lot of us are going back to Atkins.

Any other ex-KK doing Atkins?

Who was it that found their rosacea (spelling?) cured through this WOE? I think I read a couple of posts in the past day or so about that......??? Was it here?

My best friend was on antibiotics for rosacea for two years and it's totally messed up her system. She's spent a fortune lately on different doctors, chiropractors, acupuncture, and now had her eyes "read". She's had a killer migraine daily for almost four months. MRIs, CAT scans, nothing shows much except perhaps bad sinuses. Surprisingly, the eye lady came up with the closest diagnosis and it was eerie how much she could tell about my friend's health by looking at her irises (BEFORE she asked for any past medical history). Anywho, my friend's doctor had told her years ago that there was no cure for rosacea, except for the daily antibiotic treatment. This health/eye gal advised against any more antibiotics, is taking her off ALL WHEAT products, no starchy foods, increased protein (chicken and fish) but NO MORE beef and keep the fats and fruits reasonable. Carbonated drinks are out. Sound familiar?

But if I read your posts correctly, and a diet so similar to the one my friend was given actually helped your rosacea, that's great! I know my friend has to keep her calories up and not eliminate fats altogether, but perhaps she's on the road to better health - through the back door! She's got about 35 lbs. to lose, so this has a silver lining too.

If you've suffered with rosacea and have seen improvement lately, please let me know. My friend is so discouraged and weary of feeling like crap all the time.

Thanks!

I don't know if it was here or not, Kat, but studies like this one have shown a decrease in acne can happen from eating a low-carb diet. It's the sugar and it wreaks havoc on the body.

Hi Dave!

Yes, I am trying the Atkins and I love it. I am learning more about net carbs vs total. Allowing myself a few things that I couldn't have on the KK plan and I am still losing.

My Atkins book should be here soon and I can read more about the whole plan instead of trying to cram bits and pieces I have read on the internet.

What to go Sue!

Hi Sue, I recognize you from the other site. I have a diff. user name here, you all know why.

I've been back from vacation since 9/8 and came back to find the mess . Of course on vacation I had what I wanted and gained .

I figured what better time to transition to Atkins induction as I knew for sure I would be in a stall since I had pina coladas every night and some nuts ...my 2 known stallers at least on KK they were.

I am so happy because I'm not in a stall and I've lost 9lbs since the 13th. If I was still on KK I know I would still be in a stall and no hopes of breaking it for a couple more days.

So Atkins is the plan for me, I've also been having that 1 minute muffin every morning and bacon and eggs with cheese and sausage and not a smitch of hunger or hopelessness.

I know that most likely I will face a stall one day on Atkins but does anyone have a theory as to why it happened so often on KK even though I was strictly on plan ?
I really would like to know.

Not enough fat probably, SFTruth! IMHO!

I think you may be right, Jimmy...I really do smile.gif

My head is still spinning. I really don't know what plan to go to now. I just want to lose this last 11 pounds and then maintain...in a healthy manner. Any suggestions would be a true Godsend to me. Atkins, Groves, etc....?? Unfortunately for me, I am one of those kk'ers that is only taking in around 500-600 cals a day. I want to increase, what should I add....? I have began eating regular dressings, sour cream, etc. this past week, trying to get them up. I've had no health problems, but I don't want them to appear, either. I am a total NEW low carber..KK was my first experience...so any help would be greatly appreciated. I intend on getting to the book store this weekend and purchasing/reviewing several plans.

Thanks All!!! user posted image

Butter, coconut oil, nuts, seeds, full-fat cheese, cream, mac nut oil, avocado oil, lard, full-fat meats...the sky is the limit! Keep in mind that these fats are VERY HEALTHY in the presence of a low-carb diet, so EAT UP!!!
Marie
I'm sort of skeerd of going back on Atkins. I so don't want to regain my lost weight. Jimmy, I saw on the 30-in-30 site that you weigh 223. I think when I was following you on the Kimkins site, you were down to 116. I have worked way too hard to lose this weight. Any advice on what to do, or not do? Was your slight regain a result of anything you can put your finger on? Inquiring minds NEED to know . :>)

No one can tell you what eating plan is right for you... you need to find one that you can live with for the rest of your life.

I'm a fan of Atkins...

You might want to read the Jonny Bowden book on various low carb plans.

Low carb isn't just about the losing... it's about maintaining your weight loss and healthy eating.

Why do you think you would regain by eating healthy?

Hey Marie, it's GREAT to have you here and I appreciate your insightful questions. Yes, I currently weigh 223, but I haven't been 116 pounds since I was in the first grade. EEEK!

My lowest weight was 216 a few months back when I was eating a lower-fat low-carb diet (I called it Kimkins, but I was eating MORE fat than you know who would allow). I realized I was removing the FUEL for my weight loss in 2004--FAT--and that was a very bad idea.

So, while my weight is up only slightly, I am healthier than I was and my weight remains controlled just as it has for the past four years.

My suggestions for you: UP YOUR FAT ASAP, up those calories to 1200+, keep your carbs low, and just enjoy your low-carb lifestyle. Don't obsess...LIVE! You can do this and we're here to help you along on your journey to better health.

i cant say enough how helpful you are Jimmy to all of us, with the kind reminders to up the fat FAT IS OUR FRIEND- and to eat more, we are so brainwashed, and your patient repitition of these two items will eventually sink in, i'm sure

thanks again, for being here for us...
Marie
Thanks, Jimmy,
You have encouraged me and provided valuable advice for literally years. Thanks for reminding me not to obsess. When I tried to faithfully follow Kimkins, I became afraid to eat anything "bad" (high in calories), and I'm having a hard time breaking out of that. I struggled for many months with Atkins to lose the weight that I had gained in a series of carb fests, without success, until Kimkins. There was something in the Kimkins plan that broke the dam, and I just need to figure out what it was as I go back to my Atkins plan. So far, I am maintaining, but haven't lost another ounce since stopping my high fiber version of Kimkins. I am trying to increase fats, ate a large steak last night (yum!). We'll see what we'll see. Thanks again and I love your discussion blog. (And, of course, I meant to type 216, not 116 - freudian you think?) Have you heard from DocHottie? I enjoyed your interchanges on the K site.

It's my pleasure, Jaybee! That's why I'm here. wink.gif

Hey Marie, I'm so happy you are here so we can deprogram you from the lies you have been told about a healthy diet. Fat is indeed the catalyst for weight loss (sounds hard to believe, but it is!) because it becomes your fuel in the absence of carbs.

As for Doc Hottie (Lauren), she has posted a few times here at my forum, but I haven't seen her here in a while. I think she adds a lot to the conversation and hope she comes here on a more regular basis soon. smile.gif
