Which LC plan are you planning to transisition to? I am interested in seeing what everyone is doing now and how well things are going for you.

After spending too much time reading stuff, I have decided to do Atkins. I started induction yesterday. Going well so far. smile.gif

How 'bout you?

Hi Boo,

I did Atkins about 3 years ago and lost 34 lbs before I went on vacation and screwed it up. sad.gif I am going to do Atkins again DANDR . . . only this time I am going to read the whole book first! When I went to find my book I found 3 of them! ohmy.gif It must be meant to be!

I also have Atkins Essentials and Atkins for Life.

I've been struggling with this lately. I'm trying to do Atkins induction. It's hard though to let go of that low fat, low cal mentality.

Julie, I totally understand. I am trying to get out of that mentality too. I am going to do a low carb/moderate fat plan biggrin.gif I gained about 12 lbs when I stopped with all the controversy. I have lost 6 pounds of it this week by doing low carb but adding in more good veggies. It is working for me right now and I feel better. I am going to stick to it for now.

Robin, I did the same thing. I found DANDR sitting on a bookshelf today. I had already read the '72 book this week and was going to start seriously reading Protein Power but didn't want to go to the library today. My menu yesterday fell under the induction guideline perfectly so, here I am. biggrin.gif

Julie, it is hard to let go of that. I'm still not where I need to be with the fat/calorie thing yet. I just had to tell myself that everything "she who shall not be named" told me was a lie, so the low fat stuff must be too. I have hypothyroidism and the super low fat/low calorie has really messed with it. My synthroid dosage has been increased quite a bit. My Dr. was NOT happy when I told him what I had really been eating the past 3 months. The first things I changed to get more fat was no pam, I use butter now. I started putting heavy cream in my coffee again. The cheese sticks I bought the other day are not the low fat ones. They are "real" cheese. I had a steak last night and was down 5lbs this morning. I have to say, I feel much better after increasing my fats. tongue.gif It'll come. Just give it time.

Nicole, it's nice to find something that works and doesn't make you feel horrible right? I had some broccoli tonight at Outback and didn't have to say "no butter please". It was the best broccoli I've eaten in 3 months! tongue.gif

It is great to see that we are making the transistion. It may come slowly, but it is coming.

Speaking of which - is there a recipe box/forum here that I haven't found yet?

Glad to see so many 'frequent KK posters' over here as I really need to get back on track after all this 'hoopla.'

Thanks,user posted image

Yes, it's under the The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Community category.

Great to see familiar faces again - hopefully we can all get on with our new ways of life and eating properly and get back on track. Considering Atkins/Southbeach - not sure about the difference or which one is right for me but I am on a good path and I can't quit now.

Hope all of you can continue to find your way and continue losing weight.

Atkins for me -- I'm a very happy carnivore! I started yesterday, and lost .6 lbs as of this morning. . .

Julie, shaking the KK mentality will happen, slowly but surely! To me, one of the seemingly great things about KK was that it looked like the best of both worlds, right? Low-fat without the Snackwells, so to speak. . . I thought I would catch less flak from my family if I were following a plan that more closely fit the "accepted" methodology for weight loss. . .

Until you got down in the weeds of the plan, it didn't really seem that radical. . . By the time we realized how radical it was, we were already sucked in by the support in the forums and couldn't let our new "friends" down, right?

One thing that helped me break the "fat is Satan" mentality was reading Dr. Atkins' book over the weekend. As it happens, fat is virtually never stored in the body as fat. . . Sugars get burned/stored first, then other carbs, then PROTEIN, then fat! So, since fat is a sure-fire appetite killer for most people, you'll eat less when you're eating real fat than if you're eating lean or artificial fat -- and most of your calories will be in a form your body can't readily use!

Best of luck to all of us! smile.gif

who ever knew there were so many different lo carb plans...I am going to take my time and read up on them but in the meantime I'm having problems getting out of my kimkins head..Funny I am almost afraid of food now...I made myself a cheese and salsa omelet yesterday ate 2 bites and that was it...I did olives and high fat dressing to my salad last night though.

I'm looking at Atkins. It's pretty much what I turned k/e into before I left kk.
