Atkins for me -- I'm a very happy carnivore! I started yesterday, and lost .6 lbs as of this morning. . .
Julie, shaking the KK mentality will happen, slowly but surely! To me, one of the seemingly great things about KK was that it looked like the best of both worlds, right? Low-fat without the Snackwells, so to speak. . . I thought I would catch less flak from my family if I were following a plan that more closely fit the "accepted" methodology for weight loss. . .
Until you got down in the weeds of the plan, it didn't really seem that radical. . . By the time we realized how radical it was, we were already sucked in by the support in the forums and couldn't let our new "friends" down, right?
One thing that helped me break the "fat is Satan" mentality was reading Dr. Atkins' book over the weekend. As it happens, fat is virtually never stored in the body as fat. . . Sugars get burned/stored first, then other carbs, then PROTEIN, then fat! So, since fat is a sure-fire appetite killer for most people, you'll eat less when you're eating real fat than if you're eating lean or artificial fat -- and most of your calories will be in a form your body can't readily use!
Best of luck to all of us!
