Hey there and WELCOME to all the former Kimkins members who have arrived here at this forum confused and bewildered about where to go from here in your low-carb lifestyle. Let me encourage you to remain strong and open to learning concepts that you haven't been taught regarding livin' la vida low-carb.

So many of your fellow Kimkins friends are already here and transitioning to other plans such as Atkins, Protein Power, and Barry Groves, just to name a few. Talk about your questions regarding a safe and healthy low-carb plan here and you'll find the support you need to transition off of Kimkins.

Here are some basics:

- Get your calories to a MINIMUM of 1200 a day
- Keep your carbohydrates at 20g daily when beginning the two-week Induction phase
- EAT YOUR FATS--butter, coconut oil, nuts, eggs with the yolk are ALL HEALTHY
- Your fat/protein/carbohydrate ratio should be at least 45/45/10
- ENJOY your low-carb lifestyle and NEVER get hungry (contact me if you do!)

Might I suggest Dr. Jonny Bowden's Living The Low-Carb Life if you want to see a comparison of ALL the major low-carb plans in one book? It's a good one!

It's time to move on to better days ahead as you shed the pounds and get healthy! Remember, we're here to help you learn more about livin' la vida low-carb, so ask your questions. biggrin.gif

Gee, thanks so much Jimmy this is exactly what I've been looking for .

I have lost 52 lbs doing KK with some off weekends in this last bit of confusion I have regained about 8lbs but in the last couple of days I have tried to transition over to Atkins starting with induction. I think I'm in a stall now because I was on vacation last week and I indulged and enjoyed myself with my Hubby and had a pina colada every day along with other treats . I will not say cheat because I don't believe in that train of thought I went on vacation and decided to indulge in some things I've missed. I have another 50lbs to lose and I am hoping and praying that I have not further damaged my metabo by being on this KK thing for too long. so I hope we get a lively discussion going here re: everyone's efforts in pursuing a healthier and more livable way of living la vida low carb.

Thank you Jimmy for all your valid initial suggestions.
Carolia
Jimmy, you're the best!! I needed to hear this and can't thank you enough for sharing. I'm still reeling from the "bad word" site and have been eating all the wrong things..........my old habit when I am hurting emotionally. There's just something comforting about chocolate! I lost 34 on "bad word" and have 51 more to lose. With the guidance from this site and all of the seasoned members here, I should be able to do that.

Thanks, thanks, thanks, Jimmy!

This is exactly what I need to focus on.

I KNOW Atkins. I KNOW kimkins.

It's not about the diet for me right now. It's about using the motional upset as an excuse to not "start" something else. I KNOW I need a plan. I need something to get me on the right road.

First .... I dug out my old Atkins book and sort of skimmed through it for a "refresher" course.

Second ... I made a grocery list that included salad & bacon.

Third ... I got a notebook and decided to put together a "ME" scrapbook. I'm doing that for a reminder of how far I've come. It's my visual stimulation. I made dividers for photos, menus, and "adventures". I'm going to try one new low carb menu every week.

I'm looking forward to eating whole eggs in my egg salad again. I'm looking forward to sprinkling bacon bits in my omelets again.

I think, for me, the pendulum has swung in both directions and both extremes... full fat to no fat. I'm ready for middle ground. I took Atkins & Kimkins out of the prescribed boundaries -- and now I'm ready to learn how to do it the right way.

Lead on, Jimmy, Lead on! biggrin.gif

Hey everyone!

Im in month 5 of maintenance and doing really well. I used a combo of Atkins 72 and Kimkins for my primary weight loss, and then starting in June
I switched to Atkins 72 only and lost another 15 lbs! Now Im maintaining by doing the following (and ymmv of course....)

I use fitday every day and give myself a 1200-1500 calorie ceiling.
I exercise 5 times a week.
I eat protein and veggies, some fruit (one serving per day), no trigger foods including sugar/regular bread. I do eat cheese and use dressing on my salads now!
I eat almonds but avoid peanut butter! Oatmeal is ok about twice a week, and no more than 1/2 a cup.
Ezekial bread is ok, but no more than twice a week either.

In truth, maintaining is not much different than my losing plan except I eat more food, I dont starve myself. If Im hungry I eat some protein including cottage cheese. But I do not eat sweets at all!

I think we can create our own plan when in maintenance, but its a big lie if we think we can eat the way we did before and not gain!

Good luck!
Bella

Hi - This whole transition is rather eye opening. Kimkins was my first low carb experience and it appears that I was successful on it (55 lbs in just over 3 months). I never went hungry (other than the first couple of days when I went into Ketosis). I was comfortable with my diet - eating between 700 and 1000 calories a day. Today I actually "pigged out" and had almost 1500 calories. I feel a bit sick to my stomach from over eating and I feel so guilty for doing it. Since I haven't had any other low carb experience, I am going to have to figure out what diet is best for me and do some research.

I am happy to see a lot of familiar faces and plan to continue to on kicking butt on losing the other 80 pounds or so I need to get rid of.

Welcome Merry,

That is a fantastic weight loss. Don't be afraid to eat, your body needs the food. Just kind of wander around through the Kimkins threads and you'll see that quite a few people have added a good bit more at to their diets and after an initial gain have started losing again. Good luck to you and let me know if I can help!

Jimmy, what a great idea to add this Transitioning from Kimkins.....!

What a great idea!

I don't know if you remember me but I used to play the games with you and Hilary!

I think I'm gonna steal your idea and make one for myself. I still have about 95 lbs to go.

Glad to see you around again.

Thanks for those guidelines, Jimmy. I kept eating today like I've been eating, but had CHEESE on my grilled chicken when I ate lunch out today. I know I don't want to go back to the bad old ways since people are starting to really notice (I've lost 28 lbs and my goal is 102).

You guys are gonna do great! Don't beat yourself up feeling like you've cheated for eating fat. FAT IS HEALTHY--say it with me--fat is healthy! smile.gif GO GET 'EM!!!

Although I haven't official banned myself from KK, I am actively seeking a new home in a forum and a healthy eating plan. I started KK on June 6 at 260lbs and currently weigh in at 195lbs. I only did KE for the first 2 weeks and then gradually added more veggies and recently in the last month have added in more fats. All out of instinct, not actually fact based knowledge. It's so hard for me; 65lbs is a life changing event.. but my principals make it impossible for me to continue to support the values and practices that have been revealed to be the foundation of Kimmer and Kimkins.

I want to have an exit strategy in place before I make my final farewell. And I'll be honest, I feel overwhelmed by the amount of information on low carbing and I'm scared that the move will stop me from achieving my goal of a healthy 148lbs. As far as I've come I still have a long way to go and backsliding can happen so easily. I have a bit of a leadership role in KK with a very few but important friends, I don't want to lead them down a blind path!

I added butter to my scrabbled eggs this morning and the anxiety it caused was shocking to me.... have I gone from one eating disorder to another??!! The plan just seemed so easy.. Lean Protein and veggies. OK, I can cook my fish in Olive Oil, I can add butter to my eggs, I'll eat live active yogurt with some fruit in the morning... what else do I do? I'm confused! Groves, Atkins, So Beach, JUDD

Help... please

Hey Pretty Paula! Happy to see you here from across the pond. biggrin.gif Make yourself at home and enjoy the ride to better health--the low-carb way!

Welcome to you too Carol! Don't worry about the fat you are consuming...as long as you keep the carbohydrates reduced, fat consumption is not an issue. That goes against everything you've ever heard, but it's the truth.

My fat/protein/carb ration regularly looks like 65/30/5, so EAT UP ON THE FAT! biggrin.gif

Keep eating your non-starchy veggies and yogurt (although, lay off the fruit until you get going with your new plan). Above all, READ THE BOOK of the plan you think you might want to do.

Might I suggest Dr. Jonny Bowden's Living The Low-Carb Life if you want to see a comparison of ALL the plans in one book? It's a good one!

YOU CAN DO THIS, so GO FOR IT!

Regandy! PrettyPaula! So this is the hangout for former admins! laugh.gif

I'm also a "former" KK dieter; I had done Atkins in the past, did South Beach and hated it. . . now I'm trying to find something that'll work without causing my hair to fall out!

Do you guys have any particular suggestions?

Thx!

Jimmy Moore
Hey Sara and WELCOME to my forum! Above all, just start eating more fat IMMEDIATELY while you figure out which plan you want to do. This will increase your calories and get you eating healthy again. Keep the carbs down still, but don't fret over fat. biggrin.gif

Okay, reporting in on my transition so far.

I lost my initial 52 lbs on KK. I started at 248 and went down to a low of 196 but I went on a cruise at the beginning of September and you all know what that entails.

I purposely decided to have all of the things that I had been craving while just about starving myself on KK trying so hard to lose this excess weight quickly and efficiently . I didn't lose so quickly or efficiently even though probably more than I would have on anything else.

Well anyway... I had some treats but I didn't go hog wild . I had a pina colada every night with my hubby, I was dying for a chocolate covered strawberry and I had bread. One of the things that troubled me about KK/KE is that when I did eat off plan I would regain quickly and I would regain a lot. That is the core of why I knew I was in a bad spot with KK, I joked with a KK buddy that we were in an eating cult that had us so afraid and intimidated to eat even a bite off plan ph34r.gif for fear of being fat again.

I gained 10lbs on my cruise so I was back up to 208 and petrified so much so that my emotional eating led me back up to 210 so I figured what did I have to lose . I started Atkins induction last week Thursday was my first full day on plan and so far I don't think I'm experiencing a stall as I have so many times on KK even when I was eating totally and strictly on plan. I woke up this morning at 207 so far 3lbs down. I'll be doing my induction and watching the scales closely to see what happens with my weight. this is not easy for me I'm over 50, I'm suffering from an ongoing injury that keeps me from exercising the way I want and my metabo is dead from years of yo-yo dieting and to top it off doing KK/KE as written so if I have success transitioning over most all of you can.
dwagwell
OK trying to figure this out see a couple of familiar faces ,dont know what plan I want to do. Did Atkins lost then went off ,when in a stall and gained it all back. This was the fastest I ever lost48lbs[6/8] knew it was too good to be true. didn't know about all this support before KK hope it helps during the transition.

Wow here I am..I have been ignoring so much while on Kimkins...I blamed my hair loss on "summer shedding" I did do really great weight wise lost 67lbs but I learned to be terrified of food...I don't think thats the right attitude...I was also afraid to take vitamins and supplements because of carb contents...So thats the first thing I am going to add back...I am still on Kimkins website going to finish a challange I was on..Do love a lot of the people there and we shared a lot together but I am here looking to moderate my diet into something healthier!! P.S. I am 69 years old, born fat grew up fat have lost and regained probably well over 1,000lbs in my life..When I look at it now I guess I was a carb junkie!!Carb & sugar..Thanks for letting me join you!
Margarita
I did Kimkins, like the rest of you here. I hit maintenance following the diet. I never had any of the ugly side effects that people talked about. However, I also think that I probably ate more fat than the plan called for. The phrase "enough fat to make it work" leaves you wide open for interpretation. (So ... was I really doing Atkins???)

Keeping all things in balance is essential to a happy healthy lifestyle. And I believe that eating fat is important to our nutritional needs. Keep a good balance, and you're going to be happier. As Jimmy says, you don't need to be afraid of fat. We NEED fat to live. If we keep our carbs and calories in check (use fitday.com!!!), we're going to lose, and regain our health.

I've been maintaing pretty successfully for a few months. My calories are up to about 1400+ per day now (I'm 5'2" tall), and my carbs are at about 30-35 grams per day. I put on a few pounds when I intially started maintenance, but that came off again pretty quickly.

So, everyone repeat after me: "Fat is my friend. It's OK to eat fat. I need fat to live a healthy, happy life."

Happy Sunday everyone!!

I was doing KK/KE as written but I did have probably a little more fat than some from time to time.

I did the plan as she said but I would half and half when I made tuna like 1/2 reg. mayo and 1/2 light. I always felt that it's not good for women of a certain age to restrict the fat too much for pure vanity if nothing else. I felt I needed it for my skin and hair. .

Update...Going strong on Atkins induction, down another 5lbs overnight for some reason . I guess that means I had a whoosh. I'm almost back to my old ticker weight.

I was fully expecting to be in a stall after my cruise indulgence . I wonder why I'm not. I think my body is thanking me for getting off such a low calorie, low fat plan.

I hope it keeps up!!

Wow guess this means I no longer have to use Walden Farms fat free, calorie free, taste free dressings YEAH!!!!!! Any way the first time I was on Atkins was in '72 and I still have my copy of the original book..along with almost every other diet book ever written, I know now locarb is the only way to go...I am ready to admit I am hopelessly addicted to carbs and sugars..

Thanks for the welcome glad to meet you all

Hi Jimmy,

Okay, I've always heard there's no such thing as a dumb question, so here goes. user posted image

In looking at your stats above, does that mean you are only having 5 carbs a day? Or, okay here goes, are those your rations for each meal? unsure.gif

Thanks for clearing this up for my otherwise preoccupied brain at the moment. I want to be sure I do this right this time around.

Jimmy Moore
GREAT QUESTIONS, Carole! The only dumb question is the one that's never asked. biggrin.gif

Only 5g carbs a day...um, in a word, NO! I'm probably eating about 30-40g carbs average on a daily basis. The 5 in that ratio is five PERCENT, not 5 grams.

Do I get these ratios at every meal? No, not perfectly. But I do try to eat plenty of fat and adequate protein at every meal. Protein at every meal is so vitally important for this way of eating. smile.gif

Hope that answers your questions!

Hi all.....

I'm still registered at KK...well, at least till somebody finds out I'm posting HERE! biggrin.gif I guess I've been one of the last to "get the message" over there and frankly, I'm scared half to death of CHANGING ANYTHING!! I've lost 51 pounds since the first of the year....39 of those missing pounds were lost on KK. I have not knowingly "cheated" one single time since I joined in June. Not bragging....just letting you know where my head is I guess. wink.gif

I've always been one of those people who doesn't mess with something if it's not broken. So here's my story..... I have not felt this well in so many years I can't remember. I have BOUNDLESS energy and a sense of well-being. My blood chemistry numbers are phenomenal. My cholesterol and triglyceride counts each dropped by over 100 points after only about a month on KK. My doctor was so pleased that he asked what diet I was on! rolleyes.gif In short, I have my old pre-fat self back and I'm liking it a LOT!

I've consistently kept my carbs below 20, my protein intake at around 80-100 gms. and my calorie intake is an average of about 500. I am shocked sometimes that it's that low because I have not felt hunger at all except for the first day of the diet when I inhaled 2 boiled eggs almost whole after I woke up from a nap. biggrin.gif I have not experienced a craving for ANY of the "bad" things I used to eat almost on a daily basis! The ONLY thing I've missed is pinto beans!!! rolleyes.gif Go figure! And I used to have my Orville Reddenbacher EVERY single night....along with some other not-so-good things so the fact that I've not craved anything is almost unbelievable to me.

Well OBVIOUSLY I like to talk...... biggrin.gif I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've been reading a lot of blogs and hearing a lot of people talking about how bad KK is, but am having a really hard time accepting that since I FEEL so well! And, add to that, the fact that I am TERRIFIED to gain ANY of my 51 pounds back.....well, I just don't know WHAT to do!! I still have 49 more to go to get where I want to be, and the thought of a "set-back" just sends me into a panic. unsure.gif

I am.....Spellbound~
(aka Sharyn)
Jimmy Moore
Hey Sharyn (pretty name!) and welcome to my forum! You are among a group of people who will love and nurture you to GREAT SUCCESS for those last fifty pounds. More importantly, we care about your health enough to help you along in this journey.

Let me begin by saying CONGRATULATIONS on your success so far. You should be very proud of how far you've come and it is quite admirable. We want to see you keep it up!

While your carbs are at a good level at around 20g daily, and your protein is also at a nice count of 80-100g a day, the thing that's missing in your diet is fat. Since you only eat 500 calories a day, that means you are eating virtually ZERO fat.

Two things: your calorie intake for basal metabolic function should be at least 1200 each day. The most efficient way to increase those calories when you are consuming a low-carb diet is to add FAT. Now I know it sounds counterproductive to be eating fat when you are trying to burn fat, but trust me on this one. IT WORKS!

If you simply add 80-100g of fat to your diet along with what you are already doing, then your calorie counts will rise to the 1200 level you want and your fat/protein/carb ratio will be around 50/45/5 level--not too shabby for the transition from Kimkins.

Where do you get more fat from? Butter, coconut oil, nuts, seeds, avocado oil, macadamia nut oil, lard, full-fat cheese, full-fat meats, cream...you get the idea. Add these into your diet IMMEDIATELY and get those calories up. I know it's gonna be scary, but trust me on this. I lost over 180 pounds eating a diet consisting of 60-70% fat so it CAN be done.

When you first begin, it may take a few days for your body to adjust, so don't freak over the scale in the first week or two. But when your body makes the switch and begins burning that fat for fuel, LOOK OUT! A new and improved Sharyn will be on the way, baby!

YOU CAN DO THIS and we're all here to help you along in this journey! God bless you for being here and we can't wait to watch you get happy and healthy--the low-carb way!

hello and waves to everyone,

Hi Jimmy, hi carol in florida huggiesssssssssssss, hi everyone.

I read the intro to this forum and I was .. to be honest... blown away...

Right now it goes against the grain of what I have been taught on the other site and I am afraid to venture forth and ... I dont know.

I am confused.. how can one eat so many calories (1200 for example) and STILL lose?

and eat Whole eggs without taking out the yolk? wow.

I feel kinda lost ... ummm

I am in the mist of transition.... I know know its time for a chance... its just scary to be honest. sighs.

BUT the bright side is... I am happy to be here... in a peaceful place with familar faces and screen names ... (((( group huggies ))))))

sorry I am confused and kinda lost... its like when one has been living a certain way for a few months it kinda gets like embedded in the brain... so something new will take some babysteps, smiles.

Welcome Fawn and Spellbound. It's so nice to see you both here! I too was doing well with losing on Kimkins and feeling well. It's not easy to change something that seems to be working so well is it? But, I read enough to know that it's important to eat enough fat if we want to stay healthy long term and also that when you go that low with calories, the starvation response does kick in. Who really wants to have to eat 600 calories a day for the rest of their lives to stay slim? Not me! I've regained a lot of weight in the past after doing low calorie/low carb diets, so I should have known better than to start on another on. Seems like the faster it comes off, the easier it is to regain. I have been worried too about adding more calories and have done so rather slowly, adding 100-200 a day more each week. So far, I have gone from an average of 500-600 up to an average of 1150 daily. I did see a little weight gain of 3.2 pounds the first couple weeks even on 800 calories, but now that weight has come off again and I seem to be holding steady with the 1150 calories. I'm looking forward to seeing the weight go down again in the next few weeks. It helps me to just tell myself that this is good practice for maintenance and I'm giving my body time to get used to it's new smaller size. In reality, I think I have lost inches over the last few week even without losing pounds. Just keep taking those babysteps and you will get there.
agentlefawn2001
Thank you stilldew Susan, smiles.

I guess it does make sense when one looks at it from the maintenance point of view, like preparing the body.. that makes sense.

I was trying to think... how does one increase fat intake.

I remember lowcarb man said we could eat whole eggs ... like instead of throwing out the yolk which I always felt guilty about doing most times. lol

I usually eat talpia fish, chicken breast and sometimes ground turkey.

I guess I will have to re-read the intro again, smiles.

thanks again for the warm welcome, smiles fawn

I have been using olive oil/lemon juice dressing on my salads or you can use any of the full fat ones that don't have a lot of carbs. I cook my eggs in coconut oil now and top off my cooked zucchini or other vegetables with real butter. I've even been adding a couple TB of heavy cream to my shakes and sometimes a tsp of Macnut oil too. Flax seed oil is also good for you and not too bad used as a salad dressing with vinegar and sweeteners. Don't use it for cooking. Tonight I melted 3/4 oz of pepper jack cheese on my salmon tonight and it was great! I haven't experimented enough with cheese yet to decide if it slows me down or not, but am using it in very limited amounts. Just don't panic if you put back on a few pounds over the first week or so of upping your calories. Think of it as renourishing your body. Once your body get used to the fact that you are no longer going to be starving it, you will start losing again. I still watch the amounts that I eat very carefully and also do fitday to keep track of the calories . It is really, really good to see you here! I worry about all my old friends still on Kimkins.

:::::::;waving at Fawn and Susan:::::::

Good MORNING!!

I am going to ask a silly question......I read people talking about the "starvation response." What exactly IS that?

I am trying VERY hard to get used to the idea of adding fat to my diet, which, according to what everybody is saying, equates to adding some POUNDS back. Obviously I'm going to have to REALLY do a number on my head about that as just the mention of it panics me. I guess it's partially due to the fact that I've read SOOO many things about what to do, and some of them contradict each other. No offense to ANYBODY, but it gets so CONFUSING trying to figure out which advice to take!user posted image

And maybe part of my anxiety stems from the fact that I had set up these arbitrary goals in my head. I wanted to have these extra pounds off by Christmas.....or by next summer. And when I think about CHANGING what I"m doing it looks like those targets won't be met.

<sigh> Oh this is just sooooo hard! unsure.gif I guess I'll go see if I can talk myself into putting some REAL dressing on my salad for lunch.user posted image

Stilldew, you almost certainly have lost inches on this program. I would bet on it. It happens all the time on LC that there will be a slowing of weight loss with a continued and sometimes very dramatic INCH loss.

Usually the slower loss is further down the road with a healthy low-carb WOE, but coming off Kimkins, it's going to be a very, very common phenomenon. Our brothers and sisters are going to need some encouragement to get through this transition. Most of us do struggle with some disappointment when the scale doesn't accurate reflect our progress.

When you are losing inches (clothes are getting looser) but your weight is staying relatively steady, here's what's happening. (This is REALLY exciting!)

Your body is using the FAT in your diet to burn fat like blazes! (It's going bye-bye for good, and talk about WHOOSH! LOL.... Eat plenty of fat, and there goes your excess body fat....)

Your body is using the PROTEIN in your diet to rebuild the blood volume, muscles, and other tissues and structures that were impacted by Kimkins. Research shows that half *or more* of the weight lost on a very low calorie diet (VLCD) like Kimkins will be *lean body mass*.

Everything in your body has weight.... Blood, muscle, dense bones, water, digesting food. But none of this is fat and none of this is what keeps you from your ideal body size.

Now that you are nourishing your body, your body just wants to replace those lost tissues. You *are* losing fat. The scale doesn't know it yet, only because you are building that healthy lean body mass.

Do your best not to be afraid of this process. I know that can be a mental challenge, but your lean body mass makes you stronger. It makes you healthier. It causes your metabolism to go UP. It makes you look MUCH better in your clothing. It lets you wear a smaller size sooner.

You are getting SMALLER and THINNER every week. Don't let your scale's inability to detect your wonderful progress get you down, okay? You're doing GREAT!

(BTW, the reason that an ultra-fast *weight* loss goes back on so easily is that a large amount of that weight lost *isn't* excess body fat.)

Fawn, on a TRUE low-carb diet, you don't even need to count calories. (But if you do, 1200 is the *minimum*. More than that is typically better all around.)

Low-carb is amazing. It's not about depriving your body to force it to lose *weight*. It's *nourishing* your body so that your body will recompose itself and naturally seek its ideal *composition*.

Many people on the LC WOE will eat anywhere from 1200 calories to 2000 or more and do very, very well.

Restricting your intake isn't good for your long-term success.

You can do it! Get a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002, to start. There are other plans, but this plan is simple, clear, healthy, and effective. The book has sold over 15 million copies, so there are copies all over the place--every library, every thrift store, etc. (There are copies for a penny at Amazon all the time.)

The book will explain how this program works, but basically, eating fat with protein causes your body to burn and release fat.

Kimmer doesn't know the biochemistry at work here, but what it means (and this is verified by research) is that a program like Atkins creates a fat loss that is typically much greater than with a total water fast. (Seriously!)

You really can have rich, delicious, luxurious, and satisfying meals *and* never be hungry *and* keep your health and lean body mass *and* lose fat.

Those, my friend, are promises that Kimkins can't make. :-)

HI There,
I am scared to death! Just heard today about all the controversy surrounding KK and am ready to take a new path.

I have lost 41 lbs since July 2nd..but have stalled in a big way during September. I want to keep losing, but am also panicked about adding fat and calories.

I want to lose 40 more lbs by December...can I do it?

I haven't officially left Kimkins yet either Carol! I have a lot of good friends over there and I feel like I am letting them down. But, on the same note, I need to do what is right for me. I don't know if this is it either, but I want to give it a try.

I never really did KK or KE to the "T". I am not one to weight and measure my food. So, I think I will do a combination of Kimkins and Atkins and see how it goes.

Welcome Sascha and OUFan! It's good to see you here and I'm proud of your courage to do what's right for you. You will find EXCELLENT support here and I encourage you to look around and absorb the wisdom of those who have done well on the REAL low-carb lifestyle.

Right now, get yourself a proven plan you can follow (Atkins, Protein Power, Barry Groves...SOMETHING!) and then learn all you can about it. Above all, this is crucial:

- Get your calories up to at least 1200 a day
- Increase your fat intake immediately (in the presence of low-carb, eating fat is VERY healthy for you)
- Don't worry about a temporary stall right now...the weight loss will come
- Rest assured you are doing what is HEALTHY for your body compared to what you were doing

If you weren't doing Kimkins "to the 'T'" then you weren't doing Kimkins. THANKS again for being here and I'm happy to help you anytime. Take care!

Hello everyone!

I'm still a "member" of Kimkins but I actually stopped posting over there a long time ago. I joined Kimkins back in April and I did lose almost 50 pounds. Than I stalled. Around that time is when all the controversy began about Heidi/Kimmer fake pictures etc. That really didn't bother me too much. I figured who cares as long as I'm losing. What did worry me was the hair loss (honestly if I didn't have so much hair I would be bald). My family was very concerned about that and my calories were so low.

Since I went on a couple of binge weekends. I really need to get back on track.

I did try Atkins back in 2002 and lost about 30 pounds and stalled. I think I stalled then because of all the low carb "junk food" that became available.

This time I want to stick to Atkins but eating real food only. I've upped my calories but they are still not as 1200.

Hi Everyone!

Just got an e-mail notice from Kimkins reminding me to sign up for the Kimkins cruise, and to notify BECKY!!

I thought that she and Heidi had had a falling out...and that she had resigned her post over there?? To me, it looks at though nothing has changed at KK...it is business as usual!

Also, I added some butter and mayonaisse to my diet today..and have not yet had my usual 2 litres of water...what can I expect on the scale tomorrow???

Worried!

Welcome to my forum, Sascha! I'm happy to have you here. biggrin.gif Don't worry about the scale so much right now, just get more fat into your diet and up those calories to at least 1200. Let me know if I can assist you in any way. Take care!
