Okay everyone, since so many of us are cat lovers, it only makes sense to have a CAT LOVERS ONLY thread. Here it is!

Feel free to post your pics of your "babies" and I'll try to do the same soon. Let's see 'em! smile.gif

I have FOUR cats (ALL GIRLS--EEEEK!) and will post their pics as I find them. Here's my second youngest one named Smoky:

user posted image

She LOVES lying on her back like that. SILLY GIRL!

Funny story about Smoky is SHE was supposed to be a HE. The Human Society said Smoky was a male, but when it was time for snip-snip--UH OH! Smoky's a girl!

ARGH! She's a funny one, though. smile.gif

Here's my youngest kitty named Peaches when I put her inside a box recently:

She's our little instigator...

But I remind her who's boss quite often. biggrin.gif

Okay, here's all four of our little "stupids" as we call them...

Muffin is our oldest in the lower left side of the picture and Ginger is the second oldest inside the box.

Why do cats gravitate to boxes anyway? ohmy.gif

Hey Jimmy,

Great idea to start this topic here. Animals are so healing. I'll have to take a recent pic of my cat, Samantha to share.

Love the pics of your baby girls....how adorable! I like the one with Peaches in the box. Thanks for sharing! smile.gif

Jimmy, my cats love boxes, too! Even if they are too big for them! LOL!

Loki(3) and Garfield(13) are the top two and the next one is my baby Perky(9 mos) and Loki that I took this morning. Perky wasn't too happy to be awakened from her nap.

Funny thing is, my friend found Loki at her doorstep on Christmas eve. She couldn't keep him, so I took him in. She told me he was a she, so I figured I'd name her Holly for the Holidays. I took her to the vet a few days later and found she was a 'he.' So, Loki got his name from Loki, the trickster god of Norse mythology. Of course, Garfield is named after my favorite cartoon character. smile.gif Perky got her name from my favorite comic book character, Perky Goth. She's from John Kovalic's comic book series, "Dork Tower." We took her to the vet for her shots about a month ago and she about jumped off the table when the Vet poked her with the needle! He laughed and said, "She sure is Perky!" LOL! Her favorite toy is a small tennis ball that we got for the dog. tongue.gif

Your kitties are adorable, Jimmy! Loved the boxed-in pic! tongue.gif

I would be remiss if I didn't show a picture of our little kitty who died of leukemia last year. Her name was Millie Jo and I blogged about her as a tribute last April. Here's our precious Millie Jo:

My second child...er, I mean, cat...eats spinach leaves. All the others just turn their nose up at it, but Ginger would eat the whole bag if I gave it to her. She has the softest coat of all our kitties, by the way. biggrin.gif

I need to get some photos done... we have a 5 year old pure black tom cat called Salem, he was a rescue kitty, he is HUGE and very muscular, hes part oriental and talks to me all the time, hes a real mummys boy.

About 2 months ago we got Poppy, shes 4 months old now and is a long hair black kitty, she plays fetch like a dog and loves to eat RAW green beans, parmesan and her fave things are waffles and twinkies (dont ask!)

Exerts from a Cat's Diary
===========================
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are
fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt
for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something
in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an
attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today
I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet.
I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it
clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely
made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.

Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was
placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard
that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must
learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try
this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.
The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and
seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with
the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My
captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated
cell, so he is safe.

For now...

I've got 3 kitties, Lucky, Banshee, and Squish. I affectionately refer to them as Felis maximus, Felis medius, and Felis minimus.

Banshee (4) I got as a teeny tiny 8 week old runt kitten from my roommate-at-the-time's former roommate. He's all black with little white hairs here and there and greenish eyes. He's gotten bigger than I thought he would, but he's about an average-sized cat, maybe a little on the small side. He's afraid of strangers and likes to hide under the upstairs bathroom sink (I leave one of the cupboard doors open).

Lucky (3 or 4, not sure) is my big shelter cat boy. He's a white shorthair with bright blue eyes, but he's definitely not deaf. He's also a tripod...somebody shot him with a shotgun before I got him and one of his rear legs had to be completely amputated. Despite all that, he's a 14 lb people loving purrbox. He gets around just fine on 3 legs, doesn't even have any trouble with the stairs in my apartment. He can do pretty much everything a 4-legged cat can, except he can't jump quite as high (we got some pet stairs to help him get up onto the bed). He loves ear scratches, table scraps, and sleeping in piles/baskets of clean dark laundry. mad.gif biggrin.gif He also loves playing in paper bags.

Squish (4 or 5 months?) is the kitten. My boyfriend found her trying to cross a highway while he was working a roadblock one night, so he arrested her for jaywalking. She's a pretty little gray tabby, and she's Lucky's shadow...they are very close. She loves all manner of people food, we are trying to teach her via squirt bottle that getting up on the table/peoples' laps while they're eating is not Good Kitty behavior. Gettinitright, she DOES like cooked green beans, but has a hard time eating them, her lil kitten teeth aren't really suited for veggies and she can't chew 'em very well. She'll try, though!

I'll try and take some new pics of the kitties later :-)

O.k. You guys are probably going to regret I found this thread. I am picture crazy.

This is Cushie aka Dorkamilicus, Dorkasaurus Rex (sounds mean but it is all with love). He is the oldest at 11 years old. He was given to me by a friend. He is sharing a bed with our retired racing greyhound Shadow.

user posted image

This is Nala aka Meeeee. She is second oldest and still feral after 11 years. I saved her as a kitten from under the trailer I lived in.

user posted image

This is Kashmere aka Kashimillicus, Buddy, Budder, Kashi(pronounced like the cereal). He is one and was adopted along with his brother Max from the Human Society. They were in a cage together and I just couldn't leave Max behind.

user posted image

This is the aforementioned Maximillian aka Maximillicus, Maxie, Stinky (he was a little gassy as a kitty), Squeeky (that's all that comes out when he tries to meow).

user posted image

I have to mention the ones that went to Rainbow Bridge.

This is Sarabi. She was my first kitty and my little girl. She was a couple months older than Cushie. She lived up to her name....she was definately the queen of the house. We lost he October of last year.

user posted image

This is Simba aka Baby, Kitna, Shitty Kitty. He left this world way to soon at only 5 years old. He pasted away July of last year. He was a very bossy little guy and his favorite word was "Nooooo".

Cat Miracle Diet

Most diets fail because we are still thinking and eating like people. For those us who have never had any success dieting, well, now there is the new Miracle Cat Diet!

Except for cats that eat like people — such as getting lots of table scraps — most cats are long and lean (or tiny and petite). The Cat Miracle Diet will help you achieve the same lean, svelte figure. Just follow this diet for one week and you’ll find that you not only look and feel better, but you will have a whole new outlook on what constitutes food. Good Luck!

DAY ONE

Breakfast: Open can of expensive gourmet cat food. Any flavor as long as it cost more the .75 per can — and place 1/4 cup on your plate. Eat 1 bite of food; look around room disdainfully. Knock the rest on the floor. Stare at the wall for awhile before stalking off into the other room.

Lunch: Four blades of grass and one lizard tail. Throw it back up on the cleanest carpet in your house.

Dinner: Catch a moth and play with it until it is almost dead. Eat one wing. Leave the rest to die.

Bedtime snack: Steal one green bean from your spouse’s or partner’s plate. Bat it around the floor until it goes under the refrigerator. Steal one small piece of chicken and eat half of it. Leave the other half on the sofa. Throw out the remaining gourmet cat food from the can you opened this morning.

DAY TWO

Breakfast: Picking up the remaining chicken bite from the sofa. Knock it onto the carpet and bat it under the television set. Chew on the corner of the newspaper as your spouse/partner tries to read it.

Lunch: Break into the fresh French bread that you bought as your part of the dinner party on Saturday. Lick the top of it all over. Take one bite out of the middle of the loaf.

Afternoon snack: Catch a large beetle and bring it into the house. Play toss and catch with it until it is mushy and half dead. Allow it to escape under the bed.

Dinner: Open a fresh can of dark-colored gourmet cat food — tuna or beef works well. Eat it voraciously. Walk from your kitchen to the edge of the living room rug. Promptly throw up on the rug. Step into it as you leave. Track footprints across the entire room.

DAY THREE

Breakfast: Drink part of the milk from your spouse’s or partner’s cereal bowl when no one is looking. Splatter part of it on the closest polished aluminum appliance you can find.

Lunch: Catch a small bird and bring it into the house. Play with on top of your down filled comforter. Make sure the bird is seriously injured but not dead before you abandon it for someone else to have to deal with.

Dinner: Beg and cry until you are given some ice cream or milk in a bowl of your own. Take three licks/laps and then turn the bowl over on the floor.

FINAL DAY

Breakfast: Eat 6 bugs, any type, being sure to leave a collection of legs, wings, antennae on the bathroom floor. Drink lots of water. Throw the bugs and all of the water up on your spouse’s or partner’s pillow.

Lunch: Remove the chicken skin from last night’s chicken-to-go leftovers your spouse or partner placed in the trash can. Drag the skin across the floor several times. Chew it in a corner and then abandon.

Dinner: Open another can of expensive gourmet cat food. Select a flavor that is especially runny, like Chicken and Giblets in Gravy. Lick off all the gravy and leave the actual meat to dry and get hard.

I love cats so much! My kids say that once my husband leaves the military and we get a regular civilian home I will become the crazy cat lady. Just like my mother who has 12 cats. I would probably have that many if it wasn't for the limit on pets in military housing.

Here is my oldest cat, Goliath. We adopted him in March of this year from the animal shelter. He is a very large cat with lavender/blue eyes. He is a Siamese/Tabby mix. His legs are gray striped like a tabby, but his back is light beige. He is an odd looking fellow.

These two kittens were found in May of this year by my son who was working at a large hardware store in town. He found them on a high shelf in the lawn and garden department. We were using a disposable 13 x 9 inch foil cake pan for their litter box when this photo was taken. They decided to sleep in it. When we first got them, they were only 2 weeks old. They are both male. The black one's name is Poe; the orange one is Lennon. They are quite large now, being around five months old. How I love my kitty-cats!user posted image

Zyarah,  your babies are so cute.  I love siamese cats.  Is Mooshee a burmese?

ChrisTina,  thanks for the video.  It was really cute.

No, Mooshee is a traditional seal point Siamese. He's my big boy - around 17 pounds. Has an eating problem, I think, probably due to being left on the streets hungry when his owner moved. All of my cats are rescues so have sad stories.

Jimmi was one of 70 cats owned by an elderly couple in their 80's. they coped pretty well until the man died and the woman couldn't care for them. By the time she called for help several were sick and had to be PTS. Jimmi was skin over bones - he weighed 5 pounds. He still has eating problem but is also picky so stays at a good weight.

Dinky was also the result of not neutering. Him and 3 generations of littermates & their kittens ended up at the SPCA - he was very sick and barely made it after I took him.

Rio isn't too bad - he and his litter mates were dumped along side the road in the country as kittens (around 4 months). A couple who lived out that way saw them wandering near the road and stopped and got them. They posted his picture on petfinder and I was looking for a red tiger kitten (having recently lost a flame point siamese to long term illness) and fell in love. No food problem yet for him and he was healthy.

I'm a long time Meezer person too. Love the look and personality they have.

Alrighty then....let's see if I can do this right...

This is Misha, my oldest cat. Misha is 12. Mish was a feral kitten who was abandoned by her mother when she was just a few days old. Her eyes weren't open yet when I found her. She was bottle fed and she's a tiny bit spoiled!
