Whatever else is going on with my body right now, my skin hasn't looked this good in years!! I think it's the fat that I've added because my protein consumption was alway in the correct range for me. I'm look younger, feel softer. There's a glow - a dewiness to my skin.
The first benefit I've experienced from following Atkins was certainly unexpected but I'll take it.

I am on day three...still waiting for the fat to kick in. Have you also tried skin brushing? It has really helped with the skin I have left from losing 40lbs.

Jedichick,
That is one of the many benefits of eating healthy fat. Shiny hair too.
I don't use nearly as many moisturising products as I used too. My forearms and the backs of my hands were getting dry and crepey looking. They have smoothed right out.

I've never heard of skin brushing. I'd be interested in hearing more about it.

There is tons of material online for it. But you take a stiff brush (big kinda like the ones with the handle you would use for cleaning your back in the shower) and you brush your skin (dry) in a certain direction (towards your heart). It helps with exfoliation and cirrculation. It has helped my vericose (mine aren't bad) veins and I noticed a "glow" after about a week. It has also helped the little bit of sagging that I am having.
Not a miracle, but it really does help.

Jedichick:
My daughter has eczema and athsma. Her low carb diet has done wonders for her skin. We went from expert to expert, paid enormous sums for creams and mixtures and nothing has worked. Low carb enabled her to actually join us on the beach two weeks ago without any itching!

It's amazing how such a simple dietary change can create all these health improvements, isn't it?

My skin is also so much better than it used to be! I think it's a combination of eating more fat, eating fewer carbs, not eating junk food, drinking plenty of water, and FINALLY allowing myself to have quality hygiene products that contain only all-natural ingredients, and do not have any parabens or fragrances in them. I've been allergic to fragrances as long as I can remember, so you'd think this would be a big, fat, "DUH!" moment, but until a couple months ago, I thought it was just something I had to live with. Turns out, I just wasn't looking hard enough!
