Dave you testosterone dominant "Manly Hottie". What a good idea! You guys are so outnumbered you may need to have a "boy's club" and this is it. BTW I've always thought Patrick Stewart was very hot.

I can do a "man thing" really well! My dad always said he never wanted boys--and he got three girls! But he had us doing all the boy stuff as much as possible! He's a funny guy!

So, I can shoot really well. I am a very good marksman--markswoman? I beat my manly husband at target practice with a .22 revolver! Does this qualify me?

A 22 is nice for learning how to shoot. They are cheap to fire and you do not develop a flinch from the noise.

For self protection you need to have something that will stop anything, yes a 22 will kill people but it won't stop people in their tracks.

I am a fan of wheel guns because they never stove pipe and they go bang everytime you pull the trigger. You can't say that about an auto.

If you are a concealed cary like I am I suggest a light-weight hammerless 357.
If you must go auto then go Glock. I have trouble aiming them but I could learn.

For the bedroom I suggest a tactical shotgun

A few of my babies.

Oh my!! What lovely guns you have!!

I have a Smith & Wesson Airweight .38 special that has a shrouded hammer. Not completely shrouded, though. I can cock it, but it isn't easy. I do have a concealed carry permit.

You sound like my Dad! hee hee At last count he had 30 guns!

I actually just sold a lot of guns I didn't think we needed. My husband isn't really into guns that much. So he kept all his favorites and we sold a bunch of Chinese sks and my Ruger SP101. I think that was a 357, but it was too darned big. I keep my permit, but I rarely carry.

I blame those wacky words within the the 2nd Amendment for my disorder wink.gif

"It's the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of Needs. When someone says, 'We don't need that kind of gun,' remind them the Founding Fathers determined what Rights our Constitution should protect. There is a world of difference between Rights and Needs.

It is not the function of Government to tell us what we need or what we don't.
Certainly no one needs an Assault Rifle or a Saturday Night Special or, for that matter, no one needs a Corvette with a high capacity horse power engine capable of speeds to 150 miles per hour. But, in the hands of honest responsible individuals, we have the right of choice. We have the right to read books others don't like. We have the right to listen to any radio program we choose. We have the right to dress the way we want to. We also have the right to own firearms of our choice.

So, the next time someone tells you, 'You don't need something,' tell them, 'It's the Bill of Rights not the Bill of Needs.

Well said, Chipman!

At the moment, I am far more concerned with property rights, though. We have more crazies in this state (Oregon)! A few months back, there was actually a plan to disallow people to live on large pieces of property unless they were farming it or had animals! Can you believe that?? It didn't go anywhere, but the gall these people have infuriates me! And they never stop. We passed a property rights measure here and since then the authorities have done everything they can do to not follow the law! They continue to deprive people of their rights to use their property. And now there is a new sneaky measure on the ballot to reverse the law... makes me sick!

You know what, I am not necessarily more concerned with property rights than 2nd amendment rights, but it is what I can vote on at the moment.

Did you hear about the teacher in Oregon who was not allowed to carry even though she had a permit?? The Oregon law specifically says that government agencies are not allowed to restrict concealed carry permit holders. This was a practical rule so that I am not driving thru some town and suddenly breaking a local ordinance by carrying. But schools and universities are banning it anyway! But I heard on the radio that this teacher won her case.

When I went to get my CCP renewed a few weeks back, I was told that there was legislation to make it so that Oregon would honor the CCP of other states! The ladies in the office had high hopes that this would pass. Idaho does that already. Can you imagine if Oregon decided that the driver's licenses of Californians were no good here because of one reason or another? It is ridiculous.

We are having much the same problem here with property rights. The local governments have found out that if they create laws that make it easy to take your land then they can sell it to places like Walmart and make millions in yearly taxes as opposed to what they would get from you or I.

Kristi rolleyes.gif

Now them Airweight's are sweet little critters! I got myself a few of 'em, so I don't have to carry the same one every day. I love wheel guns, especially 'snubbies'. They're made for a specific job and they are just plain cool looking...and they go 'bang' every time you pull that trigger.

Now I have to agree with you that the Ruger SP-101 is just a tad heavy, at least for pocket carry, but I love the looks and feel of that tough little cannon. I had one and sold it, but if I get the opportunity to get another one, I'd love to have one. Actually I want one that has been customized by Gemini Customs. Problem is, I gotta' save up some bucks to get one of 'em. It's gotta' be one of the coolest snubby wheel guns I've ever seen.

And then there's the tiny little mouse wheel guns, aka North American Arms. I know lots of people say they're not effective, but hey...the best gun to take to a gunfight is the one you have with you! I've heard them described as the 'nasal inhalant from Hades'. For up close and personal work on bad guys.

It is indeed our right as Americans to keep and bear arms. And I like what you said about our rights and not just our needs.

What I find amusing is all these things Americans celebrate, should really Offend the British.

Technically I am still part of the British colony, living down under.

You guys celebrate like Indepedance day.

And because our media and culture down here is 99% American, no ones beats an eye-lash about it! ohmy.gif

Actually our kids know more about American History, American politics and American laws, than they do about our own! Often they think Australia is identical to America, which it is not.

My country is so dumb at times!! huh.gif
Hilary244
Yea, but we americans are lazy!!! Other countries make the kids learn more than one language. And most learn about the rest of the world and not just "America the Beautiful". I homeschool and am going to really try and teach from world perspective. Not that I don't love America and I am proud of it, I just wish we weren't so close minded sometimes.
Dave
In primary school I had to learn Italian (because I lived where a lot of Italian Cane Farmers were), then when we moved to Cairns I had to learn Japanese (A lot of Japanese in Cairns).

I still remember some of the stuff even years later! laugh.gif Like counting to ten in Italian and japanese. LOL

Uno, Duo ,Tre, Quatro, Cinque
