I woke up feeling like crap this morning. I was thinking that it was the induction "flu". I didn't think that I would experience this coming off of Kimkins. I've also managed to gain 1.5 pounds in the process.

JediChick, I'm so sorry that you are not feeling well today! I hope it passes soon and believe that it will.

The weight lost on Kimkins is not a pure fat loss; it will include (because of how the diet is composed) a loss of lean body mass as well.

As soon as you start to *nourish* your body with a healthful, moderate calorie, high-fat, low-carb diet, your body will replace its lean body mass as it continues to burn fat. This means that you may experience a temporary cessation to the weight loss, or even a small gain.

But the only way to a *permanent* weight loss is to find a program that you can really enjoy for life, that protects your lean body mass, and that keeps your metabolism at the high level that leaves you feeling energetic and well.

Keep it up! Nourish your body, exercise it, and you should be feeling better soon!

Hope you are feeling better soon. I cannot say if I ever suffered the induction flu, because I felt pretty terrible all the time before finding Atkins, but I can say that I started to feel a lot better about three weeks in, and can't believe how great I feel now. Stick with it!

Since I started adding fat to my diet, I now feel like a sluggo.

Like Simon said, it will pass. Trudge through this part and you're home free. DON'T CHEAT or you'll mess it up. You'll make it!

There is something you can do---I first heard about in some research I was doing---but Dr McCleary--the neuro/ author/ guy----talks about it in his book---MCT OIL

it is used mainly in the ketogenic diet of young children with epilepsy

MCT oils do not store well in your fat cells; in fact, MCT oils help burn fats. Used by athletes, MTC oils are metabolized in your liver, like carbohydrates and are burned up for immediate energy (containing twice the energy as glucose), and if taken a half hour prior to eating, curb your appetite.

MCT oils can be used as a supplement, or anywhere you use butter, vegetable oil, or salad dressing, and you need use only half the amount as you would normally use because of its thin consistency.

you can buy MCT oil at health food stores---but coconut oil is a naturally occurring MCT oil

it kick starts ketosis----it will get you into a better fat burning mode
