More low-fat lunacy. Lately, Starbucks has little stickers posted around saying "Like you, we have switched to 2% milk."
Moi, swithced to 2% milk??? Not hardly. I've switched to no milk, heavy cream (I'll settle for half & half if cream isn't available.) Back in my low fat days, I used skim milk. I didn't really acquire a taste for whole milk and didn't mind the taste of skim, which I didn't drink very often and mostly used for cereal. Now I use heavy cream and get whole milk for the rest of the family.
I used to get frappaccinos at Starbucks a lot -- full of sugar and I no longer even think about them. When I was really "good," I'd get a non-fat capuccino. Now I get Americano (espresso & hot water) with sugar free syrup and room for cream, and I mean CREAM. If they really wanted to cater to me, they'd have a container of heavy cream along with the skim milk, whole milk, and half & half. Of course if they did that, they'd probably be sued for promoting staturated fat.

Their saving grace is that they still have heavy cream behind the counter and will give it to me if I ask. I'll still go there since it's one of the few coffee places in town and the most common. However, I will always cringe at the 2% notice.

I just got back from there. Went over there to read and socialized instead. When I walk in they ask me what size. I normally get a Capp. with double the shots and half and half. They let me sweeten with MY OWN liquid Splenda. I then later had a black ice tea - sweetened again with my liquid Splenda. And then later had a Espresso Macciachito (sp?) - 2 shot - 2 drops of liquid Splenda and a dollop of 1/2 and 1/2 foam. DELICIOUS. Although I got a bit excited after a while - TOO MUCH caffeine Ahahahaha

No need to worry, there isn't a crazy amount of caffeine in that list. Now if you were drinking plain old coffee, then you'd be in trouble.

Where do you find liquid Splenda?
Kristi
On the sticker about 2% milk, it also says if you want whole or skim, to just ask. There's still cream available. And they can have whatever stickers they want, as long as you can get what you want!
As to liquid Splenda, it's not available commercially in the US. There are various things like DaVinci's Simple Syrup (liquid Sucralose & distilled water) or products like FiberFit or SweetFreeze.
Some caterers have been known to sell off parts of their legally obtained liquid Splenda.

It's best I stay away from there!
I have a habit of lusting after their cheesecakes!

I worked as a barista at Seattle's Best Coffee (in Atlanta) and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (in Las Vegas) for a few years and when I was low-carbing I'd have a lovely and delicious breve latte--a latte made with steamed half & half instead of milk. Some baristas have trouble getting good foam with half & half, but if that's not a concern then it's a delicious way to go. A couple weeks ago we were at the nearest "big" city (I'm in VERMONT, after all) and saw a woman ask for a latte made with half & half and sugar-free vanilla syrup, to which a snobbish Starbucks employee replied, "do you mean a BREVE LATTE? And you want it made with HALF & HALF, but with sf syrup..isn't that a contradiction?" How rude! No tip for him.
I do tend to stick to Americanos and ask for heavy cream, though. I don't really need the sweetener anymore, which is nice.

I used to love Starbucks but basically stopped going once I read the nurtitional information. I used to love the iced carmel macchiato, and would buy the largest size they had but my God one of them has a day's worth of calories, and a week's worth of carbs. Now, I brew my own with Starbucks beans, and add Splenda and half and half cream.

I actually get Green Mountain Coffee Whole Beans delivered to me about once every 4 weeks. But I do love the Capp. I even have an expensive fancy Capp. machine, but love it BETTER when they make it! LOL I can't foam my half and half like they can, and foam has LESS carbs than the half and half poured in straight than my coffee does. I just get the Capp. in ADDITION to my at home coffee! Ok, I'm a coffee addict. I admit it!! LOL

I guess I'm weird but I just don't like their coffee, too strong, too burnt-tasting for me.

I still drink Starbucks but I don't go into the stores anymore. That pastry case with the lemon pound cake and iced gingerbread (during the Holidays) is just too depressing....
So, I order the beans online, grind them up and brew my own.
