Hi everybody!
I am 5'3" and I am counting calories. I am counting fat, protein, carbs, and fiber. I am also counting walks, coconut oil, supplements, and trips to the gym for weight lifting. I keep track of the food and exercise on my Fitday (PC version). I have been doing Atkins 72 for eleven days after having done Kimkins for five weeks. Quick summary:
1. Stopped binging and started exercising seriously in December 2006 (because I was quitting Nicorette Gum and wanted to prevent the common 25lb weight gain--I didn't gain a pound!)
2. In June 2007, started Atkins-DANDR for five weeks-lost 11 lbs. (was scared to do this because I have an eating disorder and diets can make it worse--it didn't get worse. I am still not binging.)
3. In July 2007, started Kimkins for five weeks. Also started taking more exercise and my supplements--lost 20 lbs. (almost binged on this plan--almost lost what is left of my mind--but I didn't binge or cheat once)
4. In last part of August--eleven days ago--started Atkins 72 and coconut oil--lost 3 lbs so far. (Thoughts of binging are farther away.)
5. Eight days ago I started keeping track of my calories on Fitday. After keeping close track of my hunger and what I was eating, I decided on a soft limit/goal of 1400-1600 calories a day. This feels really good to me. (Hopefully not too good!) It reduces my anxiety to see what I am eating. Fitday is such a blessing! I just can't take the attitude that if I relax and "eat to hunger" I will lose weight! Maybe it is my eating disorder or my anxious personality, but I need to keep close track of what is going on!
My means for the last eight days were:
Fat: 70%
Carbs: 8% (They are net carbs. I am doing Induction, and I will keep doing it indefinitely)
Protein: 23% (This is 85g/day, mean)
(Yes, they don't add up to 100%....Hmmm....must be some rounding going on)
Fitday claims that my BMR is 1611. Hmmmmmm
So, that is what I am doing. I really hope this works... And, in November I am going to get my blood work done again and see what has happened to my triglycerides, HDL, LDL, and blood pressure--and, of course, my weight!!!!!
