My best tip is to plan your eating for the day. It may seem obsessive but it will save you in the long run.
If you are leaving the house at 11:00 ask yourself if you know where and when lunch will be and plan accordingly. Either know where and when it's coming from or take it with you OR have a plan where you will purchase it.
There is nothing fun about being hungry, at the mall and smelling a cinabun at 2:00. That's a surefire way to go off the healthy eating plan.
I always carry a few almonds in my purse to hold me over if I get in a bad situation. I also know that for lunch I can always stop at a deli and get a 1/3 pound of sliced meat and some water to go and eat in the car.
Plan your dinner so you know what needs to be bought and prepared. Don't just decide nothing is in the house and order a pizza. PLAN AHEAD.
Going to a party? Take something you can eat and put in a cooler in the car. If you don't need it take it home.
Don't let yourself get in a situation where the only choice is faint or eat high carb, unhealthy foods.

Good advise. I think it is also helpful to plan for an emergency just in case you have to do fast food. Mine are a chicken salad cup and diet lemondade from Chick-Fil-A, or a large Arby's Roast beef, I throw away the bun. Maybe not the best choices, but a way to stay on plan when you get caught up in a situation you didn't plan for. We could write "The Guide to Dashboard Dining". LOL

This summer I learned to plan ahead and plan for lunch. Yes I should have learned that before, but it was never any big deal, nothing to eat, order out. Now we cant/wont order out. So we plan. I bought a little cooler before we go anywhere I fill it with bottled water.
And hard boiled eggs. It isnt exciting but It has saved us money and cheats.
The few times we had fast food, it was a bunless burger
But they don't taste good any more.
To salty, too I don't know what.
I will have to reevaluate my plans for school, where I will be out more and for longer periods of time

I have found this to be the most significant weight loss strategy of all. I fix ALL midday meals before leaving for work in the a.m. Each day, I plan (and do calorie and carb counts for) my whole day - all 3 meals and 2 snacks. It's not obsessive at all - not if you want to lose weight. You can't follow any diet plan without planning.
