Carb Band-it (Yvonne) and I have been talking about our need to also count calories as well as carbs because we for whatever reason (in my case because I'm short) are slow losers (I mean really slow). Yvonne requested that we start a thread for those of us who are also counting calories along with the carbs. Here it is Yvonne. Anyone else out there doing calories and carbs?

Mary asked me to explain my plan. My plans are pretty fluid, as I'm looking for a way to get those last two sizes off. As you know I did Kimkins for a short time, and the thing I took away from that experience is that calories do count for some of us especially if we are short or nearing our goal, or other wise challenged such as being in menopause. So here is my take on it. I plan to count calories, keep my carbs in line 10-15%, eat adequete protein, and protect my muscles with dietary fat. So what we really have is the best of Atkins, Groves, and Kimkins. For me the calorie level will hover around 1500.
Hopefully with the high fat consumption, many of those calories will not be available for use as glucose. This plan is kind of less defined and more of a laboratory where we can post our individual results and learn from each other.
