These are profound and actual figures! Actually a bit more! 100% of these are domesticated hybrids!

This means that 100% (every person) on the planet earth, eats on average, something more than 500 lbs of these annually, or 400 lbs annually of sugar!

Ask me why were on the moon!

This was the crux of Michael Pollan's book THE OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA! Excellent read if you haven't checked it out yet. Almost EVERYTHING we eat comes from corn. EEEK!

Thanks, I'll have to look into that!

Somewhere I read that the three main ingredients in processed food are wheat, corn, & soybeans. That is, white fluor, HFCS, & partially hydrogenated soybean oil. No wonder we have health problems. laugh.gif

You know an awful lot of people are "sensitive to corn, wheat and soy" and that 1/133 Americans are gluten intolerant (Celiac Disease).
Kinda makes you wonder?

When you develop a corn allergy, you find that you can't get away from it unless you eat only meat and vegetables, and fresh fruit. I found I was allergic to corn and corn syrup, broke out in horrible hives, so had to start reading labels. Found corn in everything, even sugar free Jello. It has maltodextrin made from corn, says so on the label. Even sugar free Coffee-Mate has corn syrup in it, thus it is not truly sugar free, is it? Yet, they have a disclaimer on the container that it has such a small amount that it's not enough to count. Well, if you are sensitive to corn syrup, even a small amount can wreak havoc with your body.

Low carb was what got me past that allergy, and I lost weight to boot. Great side effect!
