"Kitty herself is a marvel. The mother of three adoring children and wife of former Mass. governor Michael Dukakis, she suffered from an underlying depression, later diagnosed as bipolar disorder, since a teen, when, like her mother, she popped diet pills as if they were candy. Later on, she became an alcoholic, hiding her bottles from her family, as do many alcoholics."

It's not my intention to be contrary, nor am I trying to say my opinion is more right, or more important, than yours.
However, I am not sure I am understanding the point of your posts on Kitty Dukakis, and how they relate to low-carb.
Are you saying that if a person embraces the Livin'La Vida Low Carb life they might have been able to stay slim without turning to drugs to stay slim?
P.S. As a MA resident Gov. Mike Dukakis and his wife Kitty were important to me and I still care about them.

I like them too! No, I'm saying carbohydrates do the same thing to us as amphetamines and look what amphetamines do!

Oh, I see now. Thanks. I didn't make the connection because amphetamines, the few time I tried them (the rainbow diet pills from the 60's) didn't work for me in any way so there was never a hint of dependence. Looking back, sugar was my "drug " of choice from a very early age.
Yes, I could tell you respected Kitty, otherwise I would not have responded to your post. Incidentally...Mike was famous for not wasting the taxpayers money. He took the subway from his home in Brookline to the Governor's office every day.
