Sorry no restaurant name as these generally aren't chains, but most have similar food.

Mexican

1. taco salad/fajita taco salad (ask for no rf beans) and of course do not eat the flour "bowl"

2. fajitas, skip the rice/beans and tortillas. I eat the shredded lettuce/guacamole/sour cream/pico di gallo as a salad and just eat the veggies meat with my fork. Very yummy and filling (I also go at lunch so I can get the lunch portion which is cheaper and more than enough food)

Chinese - find a buffet that has a mongolian grill. You pick your veggies and meat and can tell them how you want it cooked

The only way I'll eat chinese is at a buffet where I can pick & choose. We have a couple where you can make your own stir fry, which is great. I also eat the innerds of eggrolls.

There are usually several grilled entries at a mexican place, which make it great for low carb -- fajitas, pechugas, carnitas, & seafood. Most places will substitute guacomole or salad for rice & beans. One of these days, I'll get up the nerve to ask for lettuce leaves instead of tortillas to wrap my fajitas.

There is a mexican place near me that will substitute grilled veggies for rice & beans. It's listed as low carb on the menu.

Now, if I can just stay away from the chips......

My best advice is to find a chinese reaturaunt that caters to vegetarians/vegans, because they're used to special requests, like no rice/ corn starch. My favorite even makes walnut chicen ( walnuts, broccoli, mushrooms, onions and fresh toasted walnuts) but used unsweetened walnuts for me -it's amazing.

Mongolian bbq's are also fantastic because you choose what's in it, and it's cooked to order, and have more choices than the ones at the chinese buffets. Bean sprouts make a great subsititue for noodles.

Cafe Adobe in the Houston, TX area will do lettuce leaves instead of tortillas. They also feature lettuce wraps there too! Basically fajitas w/ lettuce bibs to wrap in... also they do strips of avacado instead of guac so you don't have to have the filler that sometimes get put in guac. smile.gif

My favorite Mex restaurant in my town has grilled talapia with a light cheese sauce and grilled cauliflower and broccoli. YUMMY.

I divide it before eating and bring half home. I tell them no rice or beans. Sometimes I get a side salad.
