Okay, I took the liberty. Didn't want to go "over" the limit and we were close...

NOTE: Simon, when you get back from your
vacation (scoffs with jealousy), be sure to catch up on the other thread--lots of good, stimulating discussion.

end of that thread here:
http://www.lowcarbdiscussion.com/index.php...=285#entry38285And on with the show....
So what is the absolute lowest limit? To be healthy in calories and still lose? Cuz I might be faced with sharing a meal around Thanksgiving with someone I haven't seen in 15 plus years, and that thought is absolutely terrifying and motivating! LOL

Do tell, Kim! Old boyfriend??
Different people say different minimum calorie amounts. Jimmy says 1200 calories is the least you should go. My dr says 1000 calories. I don't think anyone knows for sure. Personally, I wouldn't go below 800 calories and I wouldn't do that everyday. Of course, it depends on your activity too. Lots of variables. I think I would pick a calorie amount on the high side and then drop it gradually until you are losing. Of course, since Thanksgiving is only three weeks away, you probably don't want to take the time to do that.
So, after typing all of that, I have no answer for ya

Hmmm...maybe I'll start at 1200 and see where that gets me...
Not an old boyfriend LOL--a childhood friend--his mom and my mom knew each other in college, so we grew up hanging out...until we got a bit older. He's a song writer and musician--was in LA and is now in Nashville...we are same age and have completely different lifestyles...one can't help being intimidated a bit. Here's his website:

Hi Kim,
I checked out his bio - very impressive. I see why you might want to look your best.
My Dr told me 1000-1200 was best altho I could do 800-1000 calories but not for too long at a time.

Hey Kim,
.
First of all thanks for doing the housekeeping for me. I went ahead and close the old thread.
And second of all OOOh! you lucky girl. He is cute and can sing. I checked out your link. I hope you have a really nice Thanksgiving you deserve a break and some happiness. Hey, you never know, stranger things have happened. But, whatever, just enjoy the day for what it is.
As far as the diet goes, I'm telling you the way to lose weight is to eat a lot of fat. No joking. It has been the only thing that has worked for me and you almost never get hungry as long as the carbs are in check and you don't have PMS. I am such a hard loser and I ripped a size off in less than 3 weeks that way. Give it a whirl, I don't think you'll be sorry. Go check out the pinned topics on Groves for more details.

I will definitely do that! It is hard hard hard to get rid of the KK way of thinking. Makes me mad to think that's how I got started in the LC world, so now I have to relearn stuff...but I will. FAT is my FRIEND

I do know that.
I have about decided (that's what, one step away from totally decided) to go on that cruise. I can if I want, and by goodness I will! So, anyone else want to go? I need a roomie! I've never been on a cruise and never been out of the country. Galveston is a hop, skip, and a jump from here---so airfare for me would be cheap to get there...I am SO GOING. I am. a tan in February? Who can pass that up. Might just have to get a bikini, too....

LOL! To this and what Robin said. It's funny, cuz I think he is good looking, but I just can't get past that it is "Blake." When I heard he was doing his thing out in LA (started in a "boy band") I was skeptic. He's done really well, though. and if you go to his myspace page you can see that he's met all sorts of people. Here I am still "from little ol' Arkansas" LOL. Intimidating a bit. But good motivation to get moving toward goal, anyway.
Been on plan today--day 2. Was down 3 lbs this a.m (makes me 20 lbs from "goal"). I wish I could avoid the scale--Melodie you're my hero--but I can't (okay, I could, but do I really want to???). I have poked around the Groves threads and will do so a bit more after the kids go to bed. We have to carve pumpkins tonight. F-U-N. After another pizza party--last one, though then we are officially done with all soccer related activities...
Thanks you guys for the calories tips...is it necessary to count them though? I always HATED fitday. So tedious. Can't I just eat cheese or something fatty if I get snacky? That's what I liked about KK--was really easy. *sigh* Too good to be true, as usual....

Just a quick check in. Feeling a bit better, I "think" (and my fingers are crossed) that I'm in the uphill swing. My DH was throwing up this morning. We ate the same food, so I doubt it's the food. I'm keeping my hands washed, I DON'T need that on top of this other thing. Back to work....it's our busy night of the week (even my daughter is working right now).

Kim, Blake is a cutie! You go girl.

And I think it's absolutely wonderful that you are going on the cruise. I've never been on one either and I've never been out of the country. You will have such a great time! I'm very envious.
Regarding the diet, I guess I'm kinda doing the Groves thing because my fat grams are twice as high as my protein! And my carbs are right at 20. I have his book so I need to go back and read it again. It was the first book I read after I left kk.
My board meeting was canceled tonight, which was fine with me. I can watch Dancing With The Stars. I think Jane Seymour is going to get kicked off tonight.

Ginger, I do too, and I hate it because she is such an elegant dancer. The jive just wasn't her best dance. The spice girl strikes me as kind of a b!$ch but she is a good dancer. Who do you think is going to win? The soap star is pretty "hunky" so he ain't bad. LOL.

Ginger, I can't believe Jane got kicked either. So you are from Indy. I was there once for a convention. It is a nice town. Just too cold for this Southern girl. I think I would be living in the bathtub all winter long.
Wanda, I eat the fattiest cuts of meat I can find, nothing leaner then ground chuck for hamburger, Bacon, liverwurst, cream cheese, that kind of stuff. Not much chicken breast unless it's stuffed with cheese. Today I had lunch at Chili's. I had their blue cheese peppercorn burger, and got rid of the bun, then instead of french fries I had steamed brocolli and I ordered drawn butter to dip it in. It was really good and plenty of fat. Since I had lunch late I just had a small bowl of Carbsmart Ice Cream with 2 Russell Stover's Peppermint Patties mixed with coconut oil melted. Adding coconut oil and melting turns it into a magic shell like stuff that turns hard on the ice cream. It was really good. So If I have a heavy lunch then dinner is really light and if I work out that day dinner can be a little heavier and I'm also a little more hungry. I also eat chicken thighs with the skin on, pork roast (not loin roast), pot roast, and fill it out with some green veggies everyday and about 2 or 3 times a week I have Dreamfields Pasta, but not a large serving.

Okay--3 pumpkins done, 1 to go. My 2yo who didn't get his nap while at his grandpa's crashed on the way home from the pizza party, so he's been asleep since 8 p.m....and I was NOT going to wake him! I made the mistake of playing a couple of Halloween songs for the kiddos--the "Nightmare on My Street" by the "Fresh Prince" himself, Wil Smith, freaked him out! LOL I just told him it was all a joke. HA HA. I am going to post a little tribute post later in honor of all things scary and Halloween. I forgot how much I love scary movies and Halloween!

Yikes! I am going to try to go on the cruise. IF I can find a roomate....any takers??? Melodie???? The price is so good--and Jimmy and his wife are going--will be a great "me" vacation! Here's what I think of when I think of going:

well went out to Commerce and checked out the job then went to Applebees for dinner. Then went home because we never have any trick or treaters so I buy candy every year and end up eating it myself. This year I didn't buy any so of course there were tricker treaters. I had to beat it out of Dodge (I know that sounds terrible) and met my girlfriend up at the local Mexican joint. So while I was good for dinner, I had not 1 but 2 shots of tequila so I'm lucky I can still type LOL. I only meant to have one and then the bartender decided to buy me one too, so I couldn't refuse. What do you think, is tequila on my list of approved food and drink. Not!!!
So I'm home and I hope everyone had a great Halloween.

That was my off plan cheat. No candy for this chickadee--I got myself a stash of RS sugar free mints and sugar free Werther's to satisfy any cravings that come my way....I planned for tonight, and now it's back to business!
I am trying to get my mom to send me the pics she took, but from what I saw, I hated them...
So, a pic? We'll see. I may wait until I get my hair done, which will be soon b/c I am going to get my pic made for business cards...LOL. Always an excuse, I know...LOL
Halloween was great! Lots of loot hauled in by the kiddos...EH tried to suck me into an argument...
Then tells me it is me turning it into something...*puts up hand* talk to the hand...it is Halloween...night for the kids??? Remember???*scoff*
There were a few scary moments at some awesomely decorated houses--mainly scary for my 2yo. Cackling pumpkins, etc. Pretty funny...I'm sadistic, I know--he wasn't too traumatized, though, or it wouldn't have been so funny...
Next year...that'll be our house!!!!

I wanted to write about what happened to my daughter at a local "Haunted House". It was REALLY bad!
Ok, this is the weirdest thing. My 15 y/o daughter had been begging to go to this Haunted House, called Fear Fair.
Fear Fair It's pretty big for our area, in an old industrial park building. They have all the major players from the scary movies, of which I've never seen.
We tried to go last year with a friend but my daughter chickend out at the last minute. I've never liked these types of things and as a young girl I NEVER went. I really think, some people just don't like these types of things.
Well, some friends of ours, assured my daughter that the one of them will be so scared that he'd cry and scream "like a girl" and we'll be so caught up in his antics that we'd just laugh at it all.
What in the world got into our heads. We drove up and no one was standing in line (normally there's a line about 30 or more people deep) and they only let in 5 at a time. A group of girls and one guy had just come out and at the end a guy comes out with a chain saw sort of "chasing" people out. Well our two friends got out of the backseat of the car and hadn't closed the doors because all these "scary" people came out of the "house" and they were laughing etc. Well, it started with a creepy guy tapping on my daughter's window (she was in the front seat passenger side). She just FREAKED OUT. Then a werewolf guy came in the backseat on her side and was breathing heavy in her ear and another scary Indian guy climbed in on my side and was tormenting her. All this happened as I was getting out of the driver's side. Meanwhile here comes the chainsaw guy, she jumps acrossed the stickshift and out my door and starts screaming and running. I mean terror screaming, not just "OMG, this is fun scary screaming". Now I can't run that fast and she's starts to head over to me and she is sobbing, all the while this guy is chasing her. My daughter grabs a total stranger trying to get away from the "monsters" and our friends hugs her and she finally gets in the car and is in a panic attack. I'm trying to get the doors shut so I can drive away for her and they are surrounding the car, tapping on the windows. I start to back up and they move and I get out of there, meanwhile her face is buried in my shoulder. I told our friends to go ahead in the house and we'll wait for them. I pull down the street but where I can see the exit door and those creeps start to come after us. She starts crying again, so I pull away and assure her, I have a car and can drive faster than they can run.
Anyways, she says the guy with the chainsaw was touching her back, I thought they weren't supposed to touch you. We hadn't paid yet, so what if we weren't going in, but just bringing our friends and waiting for them? Ya know? I mean, how much should someone keep trying to scare you? When is enough enough? I'm sure several of them had no idea how scared she really was, but geez.
She actually slept on our bed that night. She had to go to school and got VERY little sleep that night and I sort of feel like a bad mother for taking her, for not chasing after those guys (my husband said he would have said "OK, that's enough guys", although this was NEVER my idea and I got her away as soon as I could.
What do you think? All in good fun or over the top? BTW - we are planning a trip next October to Walt Disney World and a night at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and I had to ASSURE her that Disney's Party was NOT scary like that.
KimPossible
Nov 1 2007, 1:15pm
Personally, I think that's AWFUL!! I love to be scared to death, but some people don't and to take it to an extreme is irresponsible, IMO. Some people get off on that, and since they are "masked" there is no responsibility. That's terrible--did this happen this year? Their site looks scary...Yikes. Did you complain?
LowCarbBand-It
Nov 1 2007, 1:24pm
Yes, it happened this Sunday night. My daughter posted about it on her MySpace and her friend knows the guy who runs it and showed it to him and he said that he never wants it to be terrifying, just a fun scared and he was sorry it was a bad experience for her.
I seriously thought of writing the editor of the paper and telling him what happened. I really feel they crossed the line by getting in our car. She hadn't even totally decided to go in and we were NOT on their property. We were acrossed the street in a parking lot of a warehouse.

Hi everyone,
Just checking in for a sec on my way to the gym.......
Renee, thanks for sharing those pictures, How cute.
Yvonne-you need to get hold of the owner of the haunted house and put a complaint in yourself.......if you haven't done it already.
That way he can warn them next year what he will tolerate.........they have no right invading your space.
I just got back from the health store and came out with coconut oil, flax seed oil, green tea pills and some other ones that is supposed to get rid of the tire tube......I say it's baby fat even though my baby is 14! But they swear by this so I am checking it out.
Well I took in a crap load of candy to work the other day and I was so proud....didn't eat any of it even those there were a whole lot of guys milling around with suckers in their mouths. Kinda funny since they are all in uniform
this week has been really good food wise-am starting to feel a whole lot better.
I am going to stick to the basics for a while until I get control back which is coming.
Speaking of control, I need to get out of this house and get my butt to the gym.
Talk to everyone later.............

Hi Everyone,
Wanda, as always hope you have a good workout. Sounds like you got some healthy things. I have a rather unhealthy thing I do with coconut oil and it's actually Jimmy's recipe. He uses regular chocolate bars but I use SF Peppermint Patties. I melt peppermint patties with about 2 tsp. of coconut oil in the microwave and stir it up really good. Then I pour it over Carbsmart Vanila Ice Cream and it makes a hard shell. It is so good that I think I'm going to have some tonight.
I had a really disgusting breakfast, at least most people would think so. I made some sf coleslaw, put a hotdog on that then some Cincinnatti Chili on that and onions and mustard. It was really good. For dinner I had TGIF's Bistro Steak Salad which has become one of my favorites. So I guess maybe I can afford the ice cream tonight.
Today we were laying out kitchens in some of our houses so that is always fun and it was a really beautiful Fall day.
Yvonne, I can't imagine that it would ever be O.K. to go and get in someone's car at a place like that. Sounds like those boys just used some bad judgement to me.
Kim, I hope you are having a good day today. I guess you will be getting the little ones to bed pretty soon, and then you get to have some "you" time.
I still haven't gone out and bought a pair of size 8 somethings. I really need to do that tomorrow. I just am not feeling that confident since it's only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving. But I'm going to give it my best shot.
Where is everyone? We need to start chatting it up. We are getting boring and that's a sin for a bunch of "freaky" forum addicts like ourselves. Hope to hear from everyone.
