Hello
I am new on this forum. I am 40years old, frenchspeaking and living in Europe, so please forgive my grammar and spelling mistakes.
I am have been on a diet for the last 25 years, mostly hypocalories, WW, and lots of fashion french diets, and as most of people, up and down and now up again.
I am now reading the book of Dana Carpender, and I would like to adopt that kind of eating and living.
After 25 year of diet I must recognize that I must do the wrong choice when reducing fat.
I read success stories on the forum, but one fear is remaining. I am afraid to gain weight instead of losing. Eating so much seems to me impossible to combine with losing weight.
I hope you understand what I mean . A diet life is difficult to change and I wonder if my "brain" will not screw up everything, always thinking that I eat too much.
It would be great of somes of you could share experiences about that.
I am also concerned about people (especially DH) telling me "I thought you are on a diet, and you eat so much..."
What can I answer if I am not trusting myself and feel confident in my eating plan.
In advance, thanks for your help.

First of all, WELCOME!
We're so glad you're here and that you've decided to take the next step in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. The incredible thing about Low Carb eating is that you can eat so much (till you are satisfied) and still lose weight! I think you will be VERY surprised at the results! I understand that it is hard to change your way of eating, but believe me it does get easier and you will learn to make better, healthier choices over time. It almost becomes second nature then to eat this way. Those high simple carbs just have no appeal any longer.

Don't worry about what other people say, read the evidence and you can have informed answers for them.
Best of luck on your new journey!

Hey Isa30! We are so glad you are here. It may sound impossible, but eating fat does not make you fat. Dana Carpender is living proof of that as are many others who you will meet here at my forum. Dive right into this way of eating and start enjoying the benefits of livin' la vida low-carb. Don't worry about GAINING weight because eating less carbs and more fat is HEALTHIER--which will result in weight loss!
YOU CAN DO IT, Isa, and we're here to help you!

Hello Isa and welcome. Since you are French speaking I am guessing you are living in Belguim, France, or Switzerland. I don't know about Belgium but I do know when visiting France that breakfast mostly consisted of French Rolls and bread with Jam and coffee or tea. While your bread over there is to die for it is not the best way to start the day when low carbing. Maybe you could start your day with a nice omelet or some cold meats as it seems most of Europe eats a breakfast similar to the French.
As long as you cut your carbs the fat will not put weight on you. It will satisfy your hunger and actually help you to shed the pounds. I know protein choices such as meats tend to be more expensive over there but please remember the fattier cuts are actually better for you to eat.
Best to you and let me know if I can be of help.

Christin, Melodie and Jimmy
Thanks for your messages. When I read your stories it makes me feel more confident about low carb.
I know I will have an hard time to give up my beleives, but I accept the challenge because it will be for better.
Melodie, you are right about breakfast. I live in Belgium, but we have the same way of eating than in France. You can buy all kinds of bread in the bakkery, and not to mention viennoiseries.
Usually I have a small cup of "all bran" with 1/2 fat milk(not sure about the vocabulary).
If I count it is about 10g carb, is it too much for breakfast? As I leave early it is difficult for me to cook,(except week ends). Do you think I can go on with "all bran" 5days a week?
I am not yet confident about what i can or cannot eat. I have lunch on my own, but we always have a family dinner. I keep on cooking rice, pasta ..for them and skip it . My family is not ready to change their habits. My husband and son are naturally thin and are happy with their way of eating . they eat everything, but i must admit they never binge or eat fast food. They can moderate their appetit and stop when full. Funny I could educate my son to eat and live healthy and I cannot do for myself.
Thanks for your help and I will keep on posting , with results !
Have a nice day

Hi, Isa. One easy thing to have on hand for breakfast is quiche. You can bake one when you have the time and one quiche will give you 6-8 breakfasts. The easiest way to reheat them is in the microwave and it only takes minutes. The nice thing about quiche is that you can customize them to your taste by changing the cheese and adding different meats and vegetables. Here is one recipe to get you started but I've got lots of quiche recipes on my site.

Thank you LindaSue and congratulations for your website. The induction menus will surely inspire me ! quiche sounds a great idea ! I always cooked it as a pie, and I will try your recipe. Thanks for your advise.
