I lost 130 pounds. But the big deal was that I went from over 473 pounds down to 338 pounds.

I say 473 plus because I believe I was about 40 pounds bigger. Even that before picture is not the real before picture.

Let me tell you, there is a huge difference between 500 punds and mid 300s.

I am Jimmy's height, so we can carry a lot of weight.

I did it through Atkins, but zero exericise.

Then about a year ago I went through some changes at work and then started to have some emotional problems and depression. I closed the blog I was running.

It's taken me about a year but I've gotten to the root of those problems and my enthusiasm and positivity is returning.

For those people who have suffered through depression, it's not something you can snap out of.

In the last year I only regained about 30 pounds or 15 kilos. Why? Because the occasional 'cheats' became a regular thing, and soon became weekly. When you are depressed, this can happen. But most of the time I ate general low carb which is why i didn't gain it all back.

Now I ready to get serious again!

Onward and upward!

Great motto, Dave! Onward and upward, except I would call it onward and DOWNWARD on the scale! biggrin.gif GO FOR IT, DUDE!!!

Yeah Dave's life has been much, much better since he lost the weight he did! I won't go into details, but you'll know how a partner's health issues really impact you living happy lives together... now he's sleeping better, he doesn't have dark circles under his eyes all the time.....

I've unfortunately found a couple of kilos of the 18 or so I lost, but we're both back on track. We know our enemy, and it's carbs.

And Dave is hardcore, and deserves the kudos for the work he's done.

Hiya, Dave! Great to see you here! A lot of us have different things going on in our lives that push us toward weight gain. You have identified the 'thorn in your side', and you are working through it, though it is no small task. I'm very proud of you!

I love having a support 'structure' to lean on; that is what we all are to one another!

I'm cheering you on, dude! biggrin.gif

Dave--you have been such an inspiration to me over these past 3 yrs---you are a truly strong person---you will continue to be---I have no doubt

As for the depression---increase your fat man---I'm doing a research study on myself---I'm bipolar---my moods are doing wonderfully with the increase in fat---you'll break this cycle---

WOW Thanks Bamagal!

You know it always freaks me out when people say I am an inspiration, because I am still far from goal.

FAT!

You are so right.

Sometimes I can get in teh bad habit of eating too much lean protein. Just purely from habit!

Plus it's hard to get fatty cuts these days. Even the fatty cuts meats are being Trimmed!!!!

My Depression had to do with things in my subconcious I wasn't acknowledges or addressing. I am starting to do that now.

Now I have a better handle on who I am as a person.

Very True Jim!

I think I am coming out the other side of a year of depression. It stemmed from how I thought about myself.

Some of the arguments on various forums didn't help me either. I think sometimes it's best to stay away.
