I did not eat on plan today

No excuses. Back on plan tomorrow. I did exercise
TaeBo cardio was the workout of choice and it felt great. I will do it again tomorrow...and eat on plan too.

I began my day with Tae Bo cardio. Yeah!! Had my protein shake for breakfast and packed chicken and veggies for lunch and a low sugar yogurt for snack. I feel much better just knowing I'm getting back on track. I think I'll make taco salads for dinner. I have a song going through my head..."I get knocked down, but I get up again..."
How do you make your shake Lisa?

Oooh, I LOVE that song, "We Fall Down" by Bob Carlisle (the "Butterfly Kisses" guy). VERY encouraging and I think I've quoted that song at my blog.

Unless it's "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba... though I'm thinking the lager drink and the cider drink are a little high in carbs... repeat the vodka drink again instead??

Sandi, my shake comes pre-made in a can. 220 calories and 4 net carbs. Sometimes I blend them with ice and instant coffee, but not today.

By the end of yesterday evening all of my muscles were sore so I took today a a muscle recovery day. Back to Tae Bo tomorrow. Still sticking to plan. I feel better when I do. I don't know why I ever go off...

Thanks Lisa

Started the day with Tae Bo and a protein bar. Packed an on plan lunch and snack for work. Feeling a bit down over money stuff so I'll try to keep busy at work as I know down moods are a time when I am most vulnerable to cheating. Maybe I'll chant to myself, "I will not cheat, I will not cheat...".

Sounds like you've got a GREAT routine Lisa! That's one of the things that helped me about livin' la vida low-carb...that and committing myself fully to this way of eating.
As for cheating, you can't cheat if you don't have cheat foods to do it with!
diamondwife
Aug 9 2007, 6:00pm
I didn't cheat, but "cheat foods" are very easily accessible where I work and even free at times. People just give you stuff. That's why work is the hardest. I am in full control at home, but any cheating that occurs usually occurs at work. Not anymore though. *chanting*

I wrote this today after spending a while in prayer and realizing how truly blessed I am...
"You"
Empty
was my spirit
when I longed for you
Broken
was my life when you weren't there
Filling
the hole with empty promises
just made it deeper
Gluing
the pieces together
just left an ugly mess
But You
reached out to me,
lifted me, made me new
and now
when they look at me
they see You

How do you handle it when your husband wants to cheat on his diet and he gets upset when you don't want to go along with it and try to talk him out of it? This is a question I've been asking myself a lot lately. Problem is in the recent past I have not felt as strong as I do now so this will be a difficult pattern to change.I know I can do it though. I just want to help him without creating too much tension between us.

Lisa, I feel for you having to deal with your hubby!! I"m very lucky in that my son is the only one here and he basically just sleeps here (he's 22).
I think you need to sit down and have a heart to heart talk with your hubby. Remind him of the health aspects....and that if he encourages you to fall of the wagon it could (WILL!!) have serious health issues for you!! If HE wants to cheat, let him...but ask him to do it when you are not around. And good luck!!

Lisa, my husband seldom wants to cheat, but if he does, he knows, in no uncertain terms, that I will NOT join him! He never, ever brings anything home that isn't low carb. His cheats are when we eat out. He loves fried shrimp, and usually has it with french fries. Just stand your ground, tell him you love him, but you have to love yourself, too, and you just cannot and will not cheat.

I'm still at it. I have, however, been pre-occupied of late with another love of mine, writing poetry. I was published in an anthology over 10 years ago and I'd love to be published again. So, if I'm scarce, please forgive me:)

Well...I'm still here and doing great. working hard at the weight loss thing:) Had some minor setbacks that were husband induced, but I can't blame him, I caved to temptation. I did get back on track this week and have lost 2 pounds. Yay. Also been working on my writing a lot. Here's a sample...
Swelter
Always the early girl, yet
I don't like mornings.
Hop the wire fence
just to get to you.
Blood runs red
and ants enjoy
drops from my green
flip-flops,
sticky sweet like strawberries.
The late-summer sun
burns hot
the brandywine, sunsugar
cherry, forgotten,
hang on the vine.
Empty sacks
like my heart,
left to rot
among the pleasant smell
of lavender.

On track again...and joined a challenge. That should help prevent me from caving to temptation. Sometimes I'm just rebellious.

I spent all day yesterday typing my handwritten poetry manuscripts in to the computer. The earliest ones dated back to high school. I need to exercise to get some of the kinks out of my back.
Jimmy Moore
Sep 9 2007, 5:16pm
I'm sure you did get a few kinks doing that. That's the same thing I'm dealing with working on my new book. Gotta get up and stretch a LOT to keep from getting stuck.

It's a great day. I wasn't feeling 100% when I got up, but made myself get up and exercise anyway. Had my protein shake for breakfast and packed a protein pudding for snack and a grilled burger patty, onion, pickle, 3 very small tomato slices and some raw veggies for lunch. Not sure about dinner yet. I'm going out for karaoke with my sister after work. I need a 12 step program

I LOVE to sing Black Velvet by Alanah Myles and a few songs by Jewel, the other day I did What's Up? by 4 Non-Blondes and it was quite good. I could keep going with the list. If I could be anything I want when I grow up I'd be a singer. I actually have a poem about my alter-ego the sultry singer. I should post it

Ooooh, I love Black Velvet! That song was hot in my freshman of college. Check out the
music video of the song. Love the raspy voice...

Karaoke
She stands behind me,
a seductive chanteuse.
Auburn locks
reflecting light.
Emerald eyes sparkle,
dance with sapphire shadow,
ruby lips on a palate of ivory.
Her elegant shape, draped
with sequins and jewels,
almost as beautiful
as the song that flows.
She beckons me to join her
add my voice to her sultry notes,
dance freely with the swirling smoke.
For a moment I'm with her.
I am her.
But when the bar closes
I go home alone.

MAJOR victory today!!!

My ultimate cheat food of all time is pepperoni pizza. I know about all the lc alternatives, but I LOVE me some Pizza Hut hand tossed crust. My husband suggested we order pizza for dinner tonight and I said NO. I swear it hit my husband like a ton of bricks.

Wow, will of steel today. And even when I was tired, hungry, and all my defenses were down too.

Maybe I should wear this around my husband so he knows I'm serious. I think he wants me to want the food so he has an excuse to eat it. Tonight I actually asked him "Why don't you want me to lose weight?" i think that gave him some sort of realization of what his frequent suggestions of junk food has been doing to me. Any how, I love him with all my heart and know he loves me. I just need to follow plan regardless. It was my weightloss that originally inspired him in the first place.

No reason for using this smiley...I just like it.

They decided to start an early-bird p.e. of sorts for our clients at work that arrive early and aren't assigned to work each day. My boss asked for volunteers to lead the group at a commitment of at least 2 days per week. Of course I did!!! Extra exercise AND get paid for it! How can you go wrong with that?

I exercised 30 minutes this am when I woke up then walked at a very brisk pace for 30 minutes at work. Today was a day when I loved my job. I still can't believe it, getting paid to exercise. Maybe I'll see if I can volunteer for MORE than 2 days a week.

The accountability is great too when it's tied to your job, no excuses. I'm kind of bummed right now because I hurt me knee working out and I've continued to work out on my injured knee and now I can barely walk around the grocery story. So I had to take this week off and it's freaking me out because I'm afraid I won't lose any weight. I'm doing so good on Groves too. My clothes are really getting looser. I hope this won't be a major setback for me.

You'll be fine Melodie. Healing is the most important thing. I hurt my neck working out around January I think. I kept doing too much too soon and it took me several months to fully recover.

Started my day with a work out and a protein shake. It's so much easier to exercise regularly and stay on plan when it is a routine. I always say, if you make the decision in advance there is nothing to argue with yourself about.

I've been lazy this weekend and only loosely stuck to plan. I do have a bit more leeway as I can have more carbs than Atkins, but I could have done better. It's so much harder for me to exercise and stick to plan on weekends, which makes no sense because I have more time to cook, work out, etc...But, alas, I'm just lazy sometimes.
diamondwife
Sep 17 2007, 8:59pm
I ate on plan today, but no exercise as I had trouble going to sleep last night and I was too lazy to get up. Tomorrow I plan on doing my regular workout then I'm doing tae bo in my exercise class for the clients at work.
