I have really been enjoying the breakdown and explanations in this book. Since KK, I have resolved never to jump into a plan without reading up and doing my research. As I am in transition, I really didn't know what plan to move on to, but I really love how this book is taking the time to break down everything which is really what I need right now.

I may be joining you guys after I finish the book. Glad to know that we have a support group here for this plan.

I'll be seeing you guys around.

I like PP because it's easy and makes sense. I also love the way the science is explained in the Eades' books.

If you haven't yet, check out the blogs too!

The Eades' books are very easy to read and make sense. Do check on their blog as well which is a perfect place for new information, as is Jimmy's blog.

Thanx for the info ladies. I am still reading, however, I am a little confused by the bread I see in the book. That scared me off a little. I guess I just don't understand. I will definitely check out those blogs.

I am a little confused by the bread I see in the book.

What do you mean? a recipe for bread?

Are you referring to the hedonist version of the plan that allows for any carbs (incuding some bread) as long as it stays within the 30-40 carb limit?

Some folks can do this sort of plan and it works well for them, other flks find that they can only do this in maintenance, or as an occasional splurge. Some cannot eat grains or "white" carbs at all.

The Eades reccomend that you stay away from grains and they give you all the science and reasons why doing so is healthy. However...they realize we live in a world with a lot of food choices and that no one is perfect. The Eades themselves have said they eat low carb bread once a week.

Personally, I think the closer you stick with all the principles of PP the more sucess you will have - and that means staying away from the bread while you are working to achive your health goals. In the long term you are going to have to find the maintenance levels of carbs adn the kind of carbs that work best for you.

If bread is a trigger food, and might set you off on a binge of carbage eating (rice is this for me) then by all means choose of version of PP that eliminates it entirely. I like the flexibility of PP, but if you need a plan with more stucture you can do it "by the book" or for that matter choose a plan that is more rigid/proscriptive. This worked well for me when I was first starting and when I was trying to regain some control of overeating.

No, not a recipe Cindy. Jah Frog, that is exactly what I am referring to! smile.gif When I saw meals with toast and crackers, I was like...WHAT! I think some recipes had flour in them to and that just really confused me. I don't equate low carb with flour and crackers, so I am not quite sure if this will work for me at this time. Probably something to do more when I am on maintenance than right now. Thanx for your help. I appreciate it.

Slim - just an FYI. I follow PP and I don't use regular flour in cooking. I do however occasionally have low carb flours, or use a small amount of whole grain oats in a dish, or eat lower carb things like Wasa crisp bread and LC tortillas. If you look at my daily menus of late, this is a rare thing (ok except this past week of eating the low carb lemon pie with the carbalose crust. lol). Ive noticed that now that I'm in the final stages of my weight loss I have to be much much more careful about what I eat, both the kinds of carbs and the amount, in order to keep losing weight.

Until this past week I would say that aside from my daily splurge of a diet soda and splenda sweetened nut muffin, I've been eating pretty close to the purist version of the plan, including the organic foods, although for much of my weight loss I was somewere between purist and dilettante. To me PP is all about doing the best you can for your body and being thoughtful about how you go about it.
