I was just making myself a chicken salad for lunch and checked out the mayo I use. It is very low carb as it is primarily oil and egg, but the oil used is soy. I remember reading references to soy in some threads here but I can't remember where and I recall they weren't very positive.
I have 1 tablespoon a day maximum (and not necessarily every day)
Any comments???

It's tough to find oil products these days that don't contain 'soy and or canola oil' so it looks like we are stuck with this garbage. Very small amounts should be OK I guess.

Vee, I agree with Gus. You are not eating jars and jars of the stuff. I have occasionally found Olive Oil mayo and as you probably know someone suggested making it with coconut oil. I'm not sure I would really like coconut flavored much though.

I am very sensitive to soy, but also use mayo made with it. I also use commercial dressing, many of which contain soy oil.
I don't normally use soy, cannola, etc (industrial oils) as they are usually heat treated, which can damage the fats. I also avoid other forms of soy due to my sensitivity (oil doesn't seem to be a problem) as well as the questions of it's safety. Fermented soy is fine, but non-fermented isn't really good for us. Check out the Weston A Price website for details. I know it has effects on thyroid function, and there are estrogen-like chemicals in it that many say is not good for us. I avoid it, but don't cut it out completely. Oh yea....I also HATE the taste!
