I'm trying to kick my horrible Diet Coke habit, but I really don't like plain water. I found this Arizona Diet Blueberry Grean Tea that says it has total carbs 2 grams, sorbitol 2 grams so net effective carbs - 0 grams. I am doing Atkins. Can I use this and treat it as 0 grams of carbs -- I'm drinking a whole big bottle, I think it's 42 oz. Ingredients: Premium Brewed green tea using filtered water; sorbitol; natural flavors; citric acid; black carrot extract; sucralose; acesulfame potassium. I really like it, and hope that it will be okay. Thanks in advance for any replies!

I drink the diet Arizona teas a lot during the summer months. They don't have any effect on weight gain for me.

Prior to LC, I used to drink the Asia Plum Green Tea. Alas, they don't have a diet version of it. sad.gif

I've never tried the tea but sorbitol is one of the more "potent" sugar alcohols. I'd use this with caution and not when away from home until you know how it will affect you. They have the ingredients and nutritional info posted on the Arizona website but they don't list how many grams of sugar alcohols it contains per serving. The two carbs that are listed don't include them you can be sure.

I just took another look at the Arizona site and a serving is 2 net carbs for 8 ounces. If you drink the whole 42 ounce bottle it would have 10 1/2 net carbs plus any sugar alcohols.

Thanks Linda Sue! 10.5 carbs is too many for me!! Guess I'm going to try plain old water again - at least as long as I'm in the challenge.

Keep in mind that this tea isn't going to have any positive effects on your body... it doesn't keep you hydrated, it doesn't flush toxins, it doesn't protect your kidneys... all things WATER does, and are critical to your ongoing health.

If you're only drinking water as part of a challenge... then what are you going to do when the challenge is over?

If you're doing Atkins, it's a rule of Atkins that you MUST have a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of WATER per day... there's your ongoing lifetime challenge.

Thanks sjm!

I had forgotten about the Atkins Rule of water -- maybe that's why I'm having a hard time getting the needle on the scale to move downward. I have a hard time pushing the water, but I guess I am going to have to JUST DO IT!!

Have the water BEFORE you have any other liquid!

And... the 64 ounces is a MINIMUM... many people aim for 1/2 their current body weight in ounces of water... and that works for them!!!
