Disney Magic Sugar Free in An Instant Chocolate Malt Milk Mix Sticks

I just happened to spot this on a special display at Kroger recently. Malt is a flavor that I haven't been able to find a low carb version of and I missed having that flavor now and then. It was $2.19 for a box of 10 packets. Look for these where they sell the hot cocoa mixes and chocolate milk mixes such as Nesquik. Unfortunately, these are sweetened with aspartame instead of Splenda.

Ingredients: Maltodextrin, natural and artificial flavors, cocoa, aspartame, calcium carbonate, red 40, acesulfame potassium, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), silicon dioxide, palm oil, soy lecithin, magnesium oxide, yellow 5, ferric orthophoshate, vitamin E acetate, niacinamide, yellow 6, blue 1, vitamin B6, riboflavin, thiamin mononitrate, vitamin A palmitate, folic acid, vitamin D3, vitamin B12

1 packet = 1g Carbohydrate; 0g Dietary Fiber; 1g Net Carb

I used some of this to make malted milk flavored whipped cream to put on a 3-Minute Flourless Chocolate Cake and it was wonderful. All I did was add two packs to 1 cup heavy cream and whipped it until stiff. This made about 2 cups of whipped cream.

I love malt flavor too..I was wishing divinchi or one of the sugar free syrup cpmanies would come out with malt flavor...and I see they have pumpkin but not sugarfree and I wish they'd have cranberry flavor..What does this have to do with this topic? Nothing..

There is a company that sells malt flavoring. I think it may be Nature's Flavors, but I'm not sure. I just didn't want to spend the money for the product and shipping only to find out that I didn't like it all that well. I have heard good reviews of it though. I'll see if I can track it down and will post back here if I do.

Hopefully this is the one that everyone liked. It is from Nature's Flavors and it's a flavor oil.

I've been making something like that lately. Here's what I put in it:

1 cup chilled water
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1-2 scoops chocolate whey protein powder
2 packets Malt Milk Mix (the flavor isn't not strong enough with just one)
2 tablespoons vanilla Da Vinci syrup
Liquid Splenda, to taste
1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum (add gradually to the above ingredients)
10 ice cubes (add last, one at a time)

I just wanted to update what I said about the malt protein shake. I tried one today with just one malt mix pack and one scoop of chocolate whey protein and it did have enough malt flavor.

I like this product too. . .and I agree, LindaSue, it takes 2 packs for a true malt flavor.

I have used and repurchased the Nature's Flavors Malt . . .and it is also very good. . .I've had it a while, didn't know it was an oil, my bottle says Malt Flavor Concentrate. I do like the fact that it can be used for vanilla (my favorite) or chocolate. But I can't vouch for the oil, my bottle ingredients have no mention of oil.

I really had to hunt for it, but I think I found the malt concentrate that you bought. It's listed under "Baking & Food Ingredients", then "Food Flavors".

Malt Flavor Concentrate

With a mellow, slightly sweet taste, our Malt flavor adds a delicate, refreshing highlight to milk, ice cream, pudding, yogurt, milk shakes, or smoothies.

This flavor is excellent for baking as it holds up well to heat. Remember most flavors do not like heat over lomg term. All flavors are aromatic thats why you can smell them. The colder they are the more flavor you have to use to get the desired effect such as in ice creams, yogurt, puddings, and chilled beverages. Be careful though not to add too much flavor because unlike heating or baking there is no loss of flavor when preparing so its easy to over flavor your creations. Now with heating flavors you need to add a little more because you will lose a little from the heat and the amounts you lose depends on how high the temp and how long you cook. Working with flavors is a lot of fun, I have done it for the last 25 years. It can test your patience. But the rewards for diligence can be incredible as you create foods you can not buy any where in the world. Besides baking you can also use these flavors in ice creams, sorbets, ices, shakes, sauces, beverages, add a few drops to puddings, and yogurts. This flavor is VEGAN and KOSHER.

Ingredients:
Water, Gum Arabic, Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate.

As with all of our flavors this ones LOW CARB.

Pegala, please be sure to report back with your opinion of the malt concentrate after you've had a chance to try it.
