I have some Hodgson Mill Milled Flax Seed. Is this the right kind to make the flax muffins etc? Or do I need to get something else?

Yes, that's the right stuff, Tami. It will have a darker, more grainy appearance in baked goods than golden flax meal but it will still be good. It also has a slightly stronger flavor than the golden kind. Unfortunately, the golden kind tends to be more expensive. I've seen the Hodgson Mill brand at Wal-Mart and you can't beat the price.
Be sure to store the opened package in the fridge or freezer to keep it from going rancid.

The dark flax has the exact nutritional value as the golden. I just finished eating my way trhough 50 pounds, and I loved every minute of it.

I hope that wasn't in one sitting! Just kidding, LOL.

WHOA! If you ate 50 pounds of flax seed in one sitting, something tells me you'd get to know the porcelain goddess quite well for the next week.
