Remember Kimmer's BS about real Ketosis?
Well zero carb is real ketosis. But what makes zero carb healthy? FAT. Lot's of fat calories.
If you are concerned, when you start out, take a number of vitamins.

Does zero carb mean no egg whites or cheese? Or just no vegetables or fruit?

Zero carbs means the whole egg, especially the yoke, and if you like eat it raw.
Full fat zero carb cheese is allowed. Cheese with carbs and low fat cheese is not allowed.
Low fat cheese has been linked to cancer.

I haven't read anything about this yet. Still working on Atkins stuff. Re-training my brain after kk.
Is this something you do for a short period of time or is this an entirely different WOE?
Can you recommend any books or sites?
Thanks!

Hi Dave,
Good to have you as a moderator, I like the simple, direct, and informative manner in your posts.
I consider zero-carb the ideal, but for me to "keep it simple", I don't believe I can achieve that ideal. I have a "profile" of absolute max 20 carbs, and average 10 to 15 daily.
As an example of why, for instance, I take a few Fish Oil capsules every day. The label implies that there is 1 carb per two capsules. Stuff like that, along with the miniscule amount of carb in cheddar, eggs, and other low-carb staples, tell me that even if I was extremely strict, I would end up over 5 a day.
As I said, I need my lifestyle to be simple, so this level of strictness would have me taking teaspoons of fish oil directly, and eating a more limited amount of food. If I up the average to 10-15, FOR ME, it becomes easy and enjoyable. I am certainly not the type to say, oooh!, I'm 5 carbs under 20, lets have that extra treat!
Since I believe the lower the carbs the better, perhaps this is my version of a cop-out. But my primary goal is to stay in Ketosis in the simplest, most enjoyable way possible.
I look forward to reading posts here to always keep the "ideal" in mind.
Thanks,
Curt

Which cheeses would you consider to have zero carbs? I thought that they all had at least trace carbs.

You won't be getting any professionals recommending this anytime soon.
This was the induction for Atkins 72.
Some folks call it a way of life.

Curt,
I wouldn't worry too much unless you see it affecting you.
I don't think it will.

Look for things like Bree cheese. I love Havarti cheese ( I think it's danish).
Any cheese that less less than 1 grams of carbs per 100 grams.
Remember, zero carb can't be perfect.
