Hi all,

I am 46 years old weighting 281 pounds and trying to loose weight. I had been diagnosed as pre diabetic 6 weeks ago. I decided to change it and take ownership of my life.
I am a firm believer that carbs is the cause of my weight ( I love bread). I made a extensive research and I found a different approach to this low car/low fat confusion.
( I was very confuse to what diet follow).

I am following the advice of Dr. Mercola ( I found his website in Internet) and he promotes the diet of no grains. You can eat carbs but only vegetables and fruits. (No bread, pasta, rice.... etc). Not even complex carbs, wheat and other are excluded, only vegetables.

When I was diagnosed I weighted 297 pounds, and my fasting blood sugar was 109. 6 weeks later is 281 and fasting blood sugar down to average 87 - 95.

Why this forum? I believe the no grain diet is very close to low carbs diet you guys are following. In my case works because I don't want to raise my insulin levels with sugars coming from other carbs.

So in a few words, I am glad to be here and I hope you won't get tired of hearing about my journey. (weight lost).

Greeeting.

Welcome Fidelfs! This is definitely a place where you can share your progress--ups and downs--with friendly and helpful people. I have been here for about six weeks now, I think, and have been eating the Atkins 72 and Barry Groves ways.

Again, welcome!
