smile.gif Hi, I am Kim or "jitterbug". I am another refugee from that other place. I joined there in June... and thankfully I never could stick to "the plan". I say thankfully because, even though I still have plenty of weight to lose, at least I did not suffer any of the side effects that some of you have. I pretty much did my own diet plan of eating less and trying to eat the right foods and I did lose 33 pounds that way and so far I have kept it off,,, but I have been at a standstill for weeks!!! So here I am...and I really do not know alot about low carb diets. Kimkins was certainly not the place to learn!!!! So if anyone has any good advice for me.. I am all ears!!! I don't post much, I never know what to say and I am always afraid I will just sound silly.... but I do need encouragement and HELP!! Good to see all of you here... and good luck!!

Welcome home jitterbug. Looking forward to getting to know you. I guess the first thing I would suggest for you is to decide on a plan, then buy the book and read it. It's always best to ease into things with your eyes wide open. There are various threads about many different plans, you could start there, and figure out what looks good before buying the book.

Never be afraid to sound silly. Most everything I post could be taken as silly, and sometimes I intend it that way smile.gif laughter is the key to life smile.gif Please post often.

Hiya jitterbug! Nice to meetcha!

I don't know much about low-carbing either, other than what I learned there, but I am reading and studying, and doing pretty well on my own until I find the way for me!

So welcome. You will feel at home here.

Hey Jitterbug,

I joined up at the other place back in June also. Lost 60 lbs. in 3 months but had a few side effects from that. I've been here now for about 1 1/2 weeks and it's a really great place, the people are friendly and helpful, and if you have a question on any topic-just ask.

There are threads for all different types of low carb diets from South Beach to Protein Power to Atkins. Just take your time, read up and decide what seems right to you-what you can live with. There is no right or wrong low carb diet--there is only the right diet for you.

So takes some deep breaths, take your time, and enjoy living la vida low carb.

rolleyes.gif Thanks everyone for your kind words and welcome... and YES JIMMY I DID MAKE IT HERE!!!!! (((JIMMY))) hugs to you.... I am doing quite a lot of reading here on the forums trying to educate myself.... and I am leaning towards atkins at present.... I THINK it might be pretty easy to follow. I just hope and pray I can get started and stay with it.... that is always my biggest problem,,, not being able to follow through. I have absolutely NO WILLPOWER. So just gonna try my best and pray alot!!!

Hey Jiterbug, welcome!! Everybody here is pretty friendly. If you have any questions or need anything don't be afraid to pipe up.

Don't have willpower, Jitterbug, but rather a steadfast resolve to live and eat healthier than you ever have in your entire life. And that includes eating LOTS of fat and very little carbs. When you get that down, the rest of the way is home free. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Hi Jitterbug!!! Welcome to Sanity!!!

At least here you will find support and caring, not bashing or meanness.

I'm getting ready to place my farewell and expose my true self there. Honestly, it is terrible there and not a good place for anyone desperate, lost, needing help and wanting to be healthy.

Anyway, Jimmy is more fun. His pictures are at least REAL!! user posted image

I had the honor of meeting one of the Duke Weightloss doctors recently, and he gave some great advice about finding a plan you can stick with, so I thought I would share it. He said to look at the foods each plan allows and find the one that lets you to eat things you love, this way it will not feel like "dieting" but more like endulgence, because you are filling your body with things you enjoy, and crave. It made sense to me, I hope you find what works for you. You can do it, and there is plenty of support here to help you along the way smile.gif

Hi Jitterbug!

Love your avi! Sylvester has always been a fave of mine. Welcome to our "home", our healthy home. I agree with what the others have said. Read up on the plans. There's a lot right here on this site. I ordered some books from Amazon and awaited them eagerly while freaking out at leaving the supposed safety of the other WOE. I got my books and began checking them out. I recommend Judy Baker's Book, Carb Wars: Sugar is the New Fat because gives a good overview of low-carb eating and the various plans, and it's chock full of amazing recipes, many with mouth-watering color photos! What's not to like?!

We are all in shock, sort of anyway, from the huge changes we've been forced by our insights to make. You are right here with us, so kiddo, you're not alone!

Love,
Sunny
Sparkys Girl
Sunny, I just wanted to say I LOVE the pic of you by the gate. It's just such a nice pose and you look great! (I'm constantly looking for photo ideas.. so I'm probably over observant.. lol)
