Ok - my laptop got a virus yesterday and now it won't even start up!!!!! My hubby's been looking at it (he's a bit of a pc geek) and he said it looks like it's all gone. He's going to see if some bigger geeks he knows can at least get the information off the hard drive so we can rebuild it and put the info back on but I'm not holding my breath.

I've lost everything low carb I've been collecting the last few weeks - recipes, low carb recipe websites, my great spreadsheet I concocted to keep track of my intake (coz I hate Fitday) - I can't believe it mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif It feels like someone is trying to sabotage my new low carb lifestyle unsure.gif I've also lost all my email contacts and years of stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

So - if I don't post I haven't left ok???? Just trying to rebuild my lost life sad.gif

I'll still be reading - be careful out there...

Vee, I feel for you. If I lost my laptop it would be every thing too. Bills, passwords, recipes, work stuff, you name it. Sometimes you can take your hard drive to a geek place and they can recover it.

Sounds like you need a "jump drive", one of those little gadgets you plug into your USB port. They are smaller than a cigarette lighter and can hold 1 gig or more of data.

I'm so sorry, I know that is really frustrating, good luck girlfriend!

Backup?

Thanks Mel - feeling pretty sorry for myself today. Nothing going much right at the moment sad.gif Before I started low carbing I was drinking way too many glasses of red wine per day - kind of a crutch for me. Since starting low carbing I have had a glass of red or champagne maybe 4 or 5 times in 8 weeks. Can honestly say that today was the first time in all that time that I wanted a drink for the wrong reasons and also thought about chocolate. Haven't sucumbed(sp - darn Jimmy, where is that spell checker???) to either, so at least that's something hey???

SJ - no I hadn't backed up for a while, which is silly considering how careful I am with this stuff at work. My stuff is just as important, hey?
Lesson learned the hard way : (

I once had this horrible experience with my laptop. Two of my dogs got into a fight and when they did the table my laptop was on got knocked over the laptop landed on the floor and the glass of water that was on the table landed on my laptop. By the time I broke up the dogfight my laptop was full of water, the battery was making loud sizzling noises and I couldn't remember how to pop the battery out of my laptop. When I finally got it out I turned my laptop upside down and the water just poured out of it. It wasn't backed up at the time either. I set it upside down on the kitchen counter and let the water drain out of it. Then I got a blowdryer out and kept trying to dry it. Believe it or not the next morning it booted up and it was fine. Boy was I lucky! The battery was ruined, but hey, small price to pay.
