Full Version: Trying to decide...

Hi everyone. This is my first post here. My story is similar to most others. I started Atkins in June of 06 and lost a little over 80 pounds by June of this year. Then I found KK and went at it gung-ho. By early August I added some fat in as I was feeling shaky a lot and ended up dropping 34 pounds doing KK by August 24.

I thought I was doing ok but ended up having a carb-fest the last weekend in August. Gained some weight, but lost it again in a week but then I ended up doing the same thing again. I have done this every week in September. I have more self-control than that (honest I do)...I've been low-carbing for a long time. I wonder if it is because my body is needing more fat/calories. As of Friday I was up about 9 pounds, but this weekend has been bad, so I'm probably up some more. I've been eating bad carbs and feel like crap.

Right now I'm just trying to decide whether to go back to Atkins or not. I would appreciate any feedback you guys could give me. I would like to lose another 15-20 pounds to get to my final goal number.

Hi Sue! Welcome aboard.

At first the "transition" was scary because I had "done" Atkins before (actually just played around with it). I have kept studying and experimenting and feel like I am "recovering".

Hi Sue, I'm by no means an expert at this and I know JImmy and the others will soon be here to answer you with more knowledge but from my own experience I think that going back to Atkins induction and upping the fat would definitely be the way to go.

I did that after packing on some pounds on vaca and I was so afraid to be stalled if I went back to KK .So I figured what better time to change over and it worked out great for me . I lost all I gained on vaca and a couple more and I fit better into a pair of jeans that I couldn't take on vaca cause they were a smitch too tight for me.

If I had gone back to KK I know without a doubt I'd be in a stall right now and starving myself.

That's my humble opinion.

Welcome to my forum, Sue and Dee is right: Get your calories to a MINIMUM of 1200 a day, your fat intake to at LEAST half of your caloric intake (don't be afraid of butter, coconut oil, nuts, seeds, full-fat meats, full-fat cheeses, cream, etc.), and just enjoy this lifestyle for all it's worth.

We've been sold a bill of goods about low-fat diets that people are beginning to realize is a sham. Sure, you can lose weight that way and even combine it with a low-carb diet. But is it healthy? All the scientific literature says it is not.

THANK YOU for being here and I hope you navigate around and continue this journey for yourself. It's the most incredible thing I've ever done in my life losing nearly 200 pounds and keeping it off for the past three years. And I wanna see you get there, too! YOU CAN DO IT!!! Let us help you, okay? smile.gif

Thank you all so much for your replies...especially on a Sunday evening. You only reinforced what I knew deep-down. I just want to get to my goal weight and then maintain.

You will be seeing me around.

Jimmy - I'm really impressed that you took the time to answer my very first post. How kind of you.

you know what i am guilty of, is going off program, for vacation, for birthdays, for a bbq, for thanksgiving-always an excuse, but i finally get that that is not an option. if i am low carbing, i am low carbing period. if i could just master that idea, i would be so much better off...

because in cheating, i am cheating no one but myself...

sugar is poison, fat is my friend (repeat, repeat, repeat)
