Any of you guys following the fight that Anthony Colpo is trying to pick with Dr. Mike Eades on his Low Carb Muscle Forum? Anthony has always been a little bit of a loose cannon, but he's taken the personal attacks to a new low.
http://www.lowcarbmuscle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1555http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/?p=933Notice how often he's accusing Dr. Eades of having not done a fraction of the research that Colpo has?
I think Colpo was hoping that an open debate with Dr. Eades would create interest in his new ebook.

Thanks, Bryan! I went and read the blogs. Interesting and that is all I'm commenting on the subject. I'm staying out of the fight.

Colpo is a wanker. He's also into 9/11 conspiracy theories.
I'm sorry I bought his book.

It is quite Colpo-esque and I agree it's to drum up support for his new e-book. Dr. Eades handled it with all the grace and poise we have come to expect from him.

Where? I can't find a response.

Look in the italicized responses in the comments section at Dr. Eades' blog post.
Dr. Mike states:
I have nothing against Anthony Colpo except for his lack of manners. I’m all for his (or anyone else’s) actively promoting a low-carb lifestyle. It doesn’t bother me that we have a difference of opinion on the calorie issue (although it obviously bothers him a lot); I don’t agree with anyone (including MD) on everything.

Oh, my! I definitely have to buy Colpo's book!
Or maybe not.
Why is it that most of the people who take the fringe LC positions are so _extremely_ cranky? Are they not taking their vitamins or something?
I think this quote from Dr. Eades just about sums it up:
| QUOTE |
| My problem with Colpo isn’t his lack of credentials; it’s his lack of manners. He is apparently unable to carry on a cordial conversation with anyone with whom he disagrees. He has a lock on the truth, and anyone who doesn’t see it his way is an idiot. I avoid those kind of people in person to person interactions and I try to avoid them in cyber interactions. |

Vintage Colpo, and I've said it once and will say it again, I love the guys research and the books that his put out, but he's an a$$ personally. While I fully understand his argument against Eades, I think there was a much better way of voicing his difference. It reminds me of an old African proverb:
"When you see two people arguing in the street, if both are screaming and yelling, you don't know who the bigger fool is; however, when there's only one person yelling and screaming, then the answer is obvious."
While I agree with Colpo that Eades is comparing apples to oranges by using Keys and Yudkin's studies, and I won't even mention that Yudkin did not believe that there was a "metabolic advantage" to eating LC, going off on the guy and challenging him the way Colpo did only further alienates him from his peers--go figure?
Just my .02, and I love the new forum Jimmy--good job!
