Hi to all!

Bad day - I attended a baby shower today & did not prepare for there to be NOTHING I could eat there! mad.gif (my bad!) It was a brunch type deal & I was running behind today so i did not eat before I went - my bad! They had every type of muffin imaginable, fruit, 4 different types of this "french toast casserole" & an egg-n-bread casserole......sad to say...confession here....I had a muffin & some fruit...... sad.gif

Here's the creepy ph34r.gif (playing eerie music.....felt like someone was watching me, waiting for the screw up.....) - while I was there one of the guys from my crew text me they had found my Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution book that I had left "somewhere" over a 1 1/2 weeks ago! Very happy to say it is back in my possession & I am re-reading it - so much I had already "forgotten" or did not focus on! blink.gif

Here's the Good Day - the VCR/TV that I needed repaired for my workout tapes (that I had been procrastinating getting into the workouts wacko.gif ) - anyhow, when I dropped it off for repair they told me anywhere from 2 - 3 weeks.....recieved a call today - it's repaired! (total 6 days!) biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Here I go starting induction again - reading - ready to start working out - everything is laid out & ready for a great start to a healthier lifestyle tomorrow! biggrin.gif

Side note/question - it states in the book under "vegetables in addition to salad vegetables: - vegetables of 10% carbohydrate or Less" - tomato is listed. I love tomato's & my garden has an abundance of them at present - what would you suggest the limitations be in a day for tomato's? Maybe I missed something somewhere - I will go back & re-read but any input would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Is this 2002 DANDR?

While on Induction, you should eat 12-15 net carbs from vegetables... forget the "cups" thinking and count the carbs (new thinking... it works!).

So... you could certainly have all your vegetable carbs from tomatoes (it would certainly be a shame to waste them!)... though you could freeze them to cook with.

There's been days I've eaten more Brussels sprouts than one should!

You don't have to have lettuce every day!

I wouldn't make a habit of all tomato all the time, but it won't ruin you!

And you've learned something about "parties"... and how to handle them...

I ASSUME there will be nothing at a party I can have and come prepared with my own food. Then, if there is something I can eat or not, it's all good. Like sjm said, a good lesson learned.

Thank you for your replies!

Yes it is a good lesson learned - one would think I only like to learn the hard way!?! tongue.gif laugh.gif I would rather be a few minutes late & fully prepared than go thru that again! wink.gif

The funny part is that my body felt horrible afterwards! I felt "fuzzy" - again my body telling me "Hey, cut that crap out!" mad.gif

I will be freezing some of the tomato's tomorrow - funny you mentioned that! I am glad I can still have my tomato's - I just love 'em! Especially from my own garden!

I have just restocked the fridge with some essentials for the week. I love late night shopping - hate crowds! Plus it gives me the time to go thru & read labels, refer to my book (so glad it's back!) at my leisure instead of being "rushed" or feeling as if I am "blocking" someone else.

I am pumped & energized for tomorrow! Workouts start tomorrow! No more lame excuses!! biggrin.gif

OK

I like your attitude, Bungee!!! biggrin.gif

Hey Bungee:

Just remember that those vegetables are always a "go with." Fat and protein have to be the foundation of the meal, that's why you can eat liberally of them, as the book says. If you focus on that, then you can have your vegetables without counting them. The point is, you want to get full basically on the fat and protein and then its easier to control your veggies. If you are trying to get full on vegetables, then you can run into problems because they contain carohydrates. Please be careful.

That's the major lesson of Induction and it will serve you well as you go throughout the other phases. And as you add certain things, remember to take either written or mental notes about your body's reaction to those foods. Did you continue to lose, did your cravings remain under control, did you have any energy afterwards? Always try to remember your answers to these questions as you make your own personal menu.

Regards,

Charles

Bungee, I thought I was the only late night shopper! My local store is open until midnight, so I usually try to shop anytime after 10. It can be sort of creepy though, since there's usually no one there except maybe two or three cashiers. How do you grow tomatoes? I've tried before, but nothing grew. dry.gif

Charles - thank you for the reminder! I can't "trust" my mental notes just yet - need to write/journal everything down! laugh.gif That's another reason I was "lost" without the book....I need to keep reading & re-reading until I have a sure concept of what is required & then listening to my body.

Mlynn - I actually "built up" my garden. The soil here is very "sandy" so I built a frame & brought in good soil. I will admit I love miracle grow at the beginning but after the blooms start I just save the miracle grow for my flowers.

I know the late night shopping can be a bit creepy at times but I park where it is well lit & then while I'm in the store I am too busy focusing on what to purchase that I don't really notice, plus I probably look like the creepy one - pulling out my notes, putting them away, pulling out the book, flipping thru pages, putting it away, grabbing products, reading labels, making faces at products, putting them back, etc!! laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I completed a 20-min aerobic workout this morning, 20 min might not be great for most but it was wonderful for me! biggrin.gif Today I am going to do research into weights & muscle toning so that I can come up with some regimen for tomorrow. I would like to alternate between aerobic & weights for now.

Back to some reading! Have a great day everyone!
