We recently tried the Diet Rite cola made with Splenda and it's great! I've heard there's a cherry flavored cola, but can't find that anywhere around here.
We've seen tangerine and raspberry, but I'm apprehensive about those flavors. Anyone try them?

Thanks!

I tried very hard to like Diet Rite cola but it didn't happen. It just isn't Pepsi now matter how you slice it. I didn't care for the Diet Rite Cherry Cola either. Diet Cherry Pepsi is the only soda I drink. I hate that I'm drinking aspartame but it's either that or give up soda completely. One of these days I will do just that, but not today, LOL.

I am with Linda. I bought a 12 pack of each flavor I could find (cola, raspberry, and tangerine), and I just couldn't bring myself to choke it down. I am a Diet Pepsi fan too, maybe our tastebuds are just different

I was reading on Linda's site about an orange chicken that sounded interesting. One of my favorite foods was PF Chang's Orange Chicken. I am getting my pans tomorrow, and plan to try this, if I can make it to the store.

I wish I could like Diet Rite too, but it just has a too sweet yucky taste to suit me. I guess I'm just a Diet Coke girl. I don't even like the new Diet Coke products they have come out with, just the stuff that's bad for you because of the nutrasweet.

I, also, am a Diet Coke fna. For years I drank Pepsi. When I switched to diet I couldn't drink Diet Pepsi so I switched to Diet Coke. I am trying to switch over to Diet Rite but it is taking time. Of the flavored ones I like tangerine on ice.

I for one ADORE Diet Rite and only recently tried the Cherry version Susan when I was in Indiana on vacation. They don't stock it here in South Carolina, but I'm working on my local stores to bring it in. It is AMAZING!
Diet Coke with Splenda is my other fave, although I prefer the Splenda-sweetened diet sodas with no caffeine in them like Diet Rite and Diet Cheerwine. Can't handle the NASTY-tame!!!

Well, I was a die hard Diet Coke fan but after reading everything about nutrasweet I switched over to Diet Rite about a month ago. At first I thought it was too sweet but I've gotten used to it now and like it. I did try the Diet Rite Cherry and at first I liked it, but after drinking about two cans, I just couldn't drink it anymore.

I like some of the Diet Rites. I like the cola, orange and cherry. I tried the Strawberry Kiwi and it was nasty. I prefer diet coke with splenda/lime but the diet rites are good. I use them mostly for making protein shakes though.

Please tell me about making protein shakes with Diet Rite! I would love to know how to do this.

I am a diet cherry coke fan. Because I really try hard to avoid aspartame, I buy the diet rite cherry cola. It doesn't have the same pizazz for me, but, I know it is the better choice. I do like it, though. I always tell myself that I used to despise diet coke, and now I love it. In time, it will be the same with diet rite. It will just be the taste I am used to.

Just use a flat soda in place of the water. My favorite is using a flat orange diet rite with a scoop of chocolate protein powder and a couple of icecubes. Put in a blender.
Or I like using the cola diet rite, with a spoon of instant coffee with splash of sf caramel syrup, a scoop of chocolate protein and some ice.
Our grocery makes sf strawberry soda that is good with a scoop of the vanilla or strawberry protein and a dash of banana sf syrup.
A diet root beer with scoop of vanilla and some ice.
You get the idea. Good stuff.

I like the plain diet rite cola, my kids like both the raspberry and tangerine. Those are the only flavors we get here in "little town" Vermont. (I saw the white grape across the border in NY, but know I don't like that one already.) But, if you check out the web-site it tells you about other flavors. Some are only bottled in some areas. Another brand is Hansens Sodas. They used to have them around here but don't any longer. When I contacted the company, they told me to request it at my local supermarket, and gave me a list of markets that are their "usual" carriers. I have yet to try it, but I am going to !
Here is the body of the email from Hansens:
Thank you for your interest in Hansen Beverage Company!
You should be able to find our Hansen's Beverages at:
A&P companies, Demoulas Market, Grand Union, Price Chopper, Shaws, Shop N' Save Star Market, Stop & Shop, Wal Mart Super Centers, Whole Foods, Wild oats, Costco and Sam's Club.
If you do not see our beverages on the store shelves please ask the Store Manager to special order them for you, these retailers have National Accounts with us and should have no problem in accommodating your request.
Also try looking in the Health Food Aisle.
You can also purchase your favorite Hansen's Products online at www.hansens.com. No shipping charge for Soda purchases.
Very Helpful!
Good Luck,
Amy

THANKS, Amy! Hansen's I hear is good (never seen 'em in my area) and there's another fringe brand called Waist Watchers that's made with Splenda and no caffeine, too. Their web site is

Hello Amy,
I used to drink Diet Rite all the time when I was in my 20's and my favorite was their Grapefruit, do they still make it?
I haven't been able to drink Carbonated drinks for almost 20 yrs. now, the carbo was bothering my stomach too much.
I have a sister that would drink over two six-packs a day and had Major stomach problems. It seems that when the Dr. ran tests on her they discovered the carbo was eating her Stomach Lining.
It was so bad that they talked about doing a Stomach Transplant.
From what the Dr. said, the closest they could get at the time was a GOAT Stomach !!! I told her if they had to, then she wouldn't feel so BAAAAAAAD~~LMBO~~My bad, sorry!
She stopped drinking sodas that day~~and the lining rebuilt itself and she avoided the Surgery.

I buy the Diet Rite Tangerine, Cola, and White Grape. Once they had the Rasberry. Glad to know about all the different flavors. Will see if I can get one of the stores around here to get more of a variety. I prefer Splenda to Aspartame.

Luv, Luv, Luv the white grape. Great white soda(well it actually looks like ginger ale) without the lemon/lime taste.
I like all I have tried. And I remember the grapefruit but have not seen it in years. Forgot all about it. Wasn't Fresca a grapefruit taste also?
I think the raspberry is my 2nd favorite. Originaly got hooked on the tangerine by my cousin.

I love Diet Rite sodas. I'm not so crazy about the raspberry flavor but I love the tangerine, cola, and cherry cola flavors. I thought it was too sweet at first but after getting used to the flavor I find that the other sodas taste bitter to me. I too, prefer splenda sweetened products to aspertame.

Cocopuff~~
All true~~Sweetie you just can't make stuff like that up !
As the saying goes~~Truth IS Stranger than Fiction !
I tried to lighten the moment with the Baaaad remark for her, because she was really scared about the idea of Surgery.
It did scare her enough to quit Her Soda Addiction Cold Turkey and give her stomach a chance to rebuild it's Lining. So, I guess some good came out of it, huh?
But, it scared me too, that's why I stopped my 2 a day consumption~~I didn't want to get there!
Has Anyone seen the Grapefruit flavor anywhere ?

I like Diet Rite and buy a 12-pack every week. My faves are the white grape and black cherry. I didn't care too much for the tangerine.

My DH and I love Diet Riet cola and have it all the time. Don't like the other flavors as much. We learned about it here in PA when they served it in a Thai restaurant we went to a lot. My little market here had it on sale when they were selling Canada Dry products for 99-cents a 2-liter bottle. I suspect CD has taken them over. They have always had a challenge getting shelf space next to the big bad C and P stuff. Look for sales like that!

Diet Rite does not make grapefruit anymore, only Raspberry, White Grape, Tangarine, and Cola, cherry cola, kiwi strawberry, and black cherry.
Waist Watchers is another great brand. They have ginger ale, root beer, orange, cola, black cherry, citrus frost and vanilla creme. The Vanilla and citrus are my favorites.
Fresca, although aspertame sweetened comes in 3 flavors, regular (grapefruit), peach and black cherry.
Pretty good stuff if you need a soda fix.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I've been away for a bit.
I like having my colas/sodas with a bit of heavy cream, reminiscent of an Italian soda. It's esp. good w/root beer, but I just can't find one sweetened with Splenda around here....
And Amy--hello from a fellow Vermonter!!

I just tried the white grape. YUMMY!!!
Does anyone get the hungry-girl e-mails?
Lots of interesting things on it.
One recipee I tried is the baked apples. I like braeburn apples the best, but go ahead and use your favorite. Just peel, core and slice thin. Lay ia a 9x13 glass cake pan. Cover with black cherry diet-rite. Throw in 3-4 cinnamon STICKS. Sprinkle granular splenda on the top. Cover with foil and bake at about 350 degrees till tender.
This is awesome!!!! I call it my home-made applesauce. dh loves it with cottage cheese. I love it warmed up as a treat. The juice is "to die for!!" It would probably mix well with ......... oh,say,..........vodka! LOL-JUST KIDDING-LOL
MAYBE!!!

Hansen's is good. We have it here in Portland. I also like a type of flavored sparkling water they sell in Fred Meyer's health food department...I think it is called Cascade Springs or something similar. I like all the flavors; particularly, I like the fact that it does not have a sharp after taste and is easy on the stomach. As for pop. I decided to just drink one I like when I want one: that's Diet Caffeine free Coke. The diet Pepsi isn't too bad, either. Diet Rite just never was very good, even though RC was fantastic! Does anyone besides us like Dr. Pepper?

Hey again,
Thanks for the Waist Watchers recommendations. I've been walking past that stuff for months because I thought they were from "Weight Watchers." Ha! One grocery store sells them. We got the vanilla and the rootbeer, and tried the vanilla so far. It's very, very good. Yay!

I'm not that familiar with it, but looking it up, it's sweetened with Splenda and Ace-K (acesulfame potassium). Anyone know much about Ace-K? I'd probably give it a try if I hadn't found my beloved Waist Watchers sodas...
