I use mostly body weight exercises in my routine, so it is a fabulous way to get in your resistance training. I do several exercises on what I call the "fitness ball." You can get a mean set of abs by working with that thing. Crunches with the ball are many times more effective than doing them on the floor because with the ball, you have the instability factor. You need a strong core just to keep yourself on the ball. A Pilates class is also a very good thing to do. It's resistance like weight lifting, but you can certainly tone up in a more "natural" way.

Good luck with it.

I have the Core Secrets workouts with Gunner and they are ok. I like the accelerated workout more. I have a few other workouts with the ball. They're great for your core. I enjoy them. I just wish I had a bigger workout area. Right now I have to lug all my workout equipment around.

I have seen that peple use this in the pool. I can't seem to find any information on how to do this. Does anyone have any ideas or a direction you can point me in?

thanks
Alison
I have never heard of the ball being used in the pool...the ball that I speak of is 2 feet wide....you sit on it and use it to do your exercises on....it helps with keeping your balance as you have to flex your abs and your buttocks for any exercise to work...the ball forces you to do this or you simply land on the floor...lol I even use it to stretch out my back and to do stomach crunches on...works for me!!

I LOVE my exercise ball. It is one of my favorite workouts and it works tons of muscles you never knew you had before.

I have an exercise ball, but I never know what to do with it either.

Get an instructional dvd Jimmy. You will notice a big difference in core strength if you use the ball.

Yep, that's it. They have a water class at the Y that uses it. I'm going to go and sit and watch one day and see what they do.

I like to sit on mine while I watch TV! LOL 9just kidding!

My favorite moves on it are:

1) wall squal with dumbells ! KILLER MOVE! 2
2) Ab crunches
3) Pushups

I love the ab exercises on it because it doesn't hurt my neck like regular crunches
Alison
Hi there...there are many types of exercises on the ball...try lying on the floor with your feet on the ball...keeping buttocks tight and abs clenched raise your butt off the floor and hold...the wall squats, sit ups and push ups are all great too!!The one I have mentioned is great for the buttocks as well!!

Lisa...OMG your rock is way to big now...lol I hope it does not fall off!!!

Ocean...when you go watch can you try to explain it here and share what you have learned???

Jimmy...first step....blow it up...lol sorry just being a smarty...there are books available that will show you the exercises as well!! My ball also came with a few beginner ones!

I have one as well, and I've heard they're great for ab exercises. (Doing them on the floor kills my lower back.) My problem is I can't seem to stay on it. It's like watching a fish out of water, I just keep flailing around and falling off it. It's a source of great amusement for my boyfriend. laugh.gif How do you keep stable on it?
diamondwife
I started by just practicing staying stable on the ball without any "funky" moves. Plus the DVD I got with it had pretty basic moves that focused on core strength so by the time I attempted ab exercises my core was already pretty strong.
