Greetings All. I discovered this forum a couple of days ago and find it a great help and wonderful resource. I just came across this article on the BBC website that I know Jimmy and friends will be happy to see.

"Starchy diet 'may damage liver'"

Fatty liver can be a sign of serious problems to come
A diet rich in potatoes, white bread and white rice may be contributing to a "silent epidemic" of a dangerous liver condition.

"High-glycaemic" foods - rapidly digested by the body - could be causing "fatty liver", increasing the risk of serious illness. For More, check out this link to the article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7006191.stm

It is another sign that eating all of those simple carbs and sugars are causing great damage to the liver. hmmm, haven't we been told that it is saturated fat all of these years and to take whatever pill they are marketing??? wink.gif

I look forward to reading a blog post from Jimmy about this article as I'm sure he'll be lovin' it!
Time for my ham and eggs breakfast!

Thanks! It's nice to have some evidence that it was the buns, fries, sugary cola, etc that caused the damage to Morgan Spurlock's liver in Supersize Me!

a fatty liver is a concern when you are going to have WLS done---it makes you less of a candidate for the laproscopic version---most surgeons have the patients lose some weight prior to the main surgery---guess what diet the recommend---ATKINS!!!

it saddened me to read this article---because they were talking about kids having it---
